As a curious fact, the sprites are taken from the First Mortal Kombat (Liu Kang, Kano, Sonya, Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Raiden) but Readapted to the Famicom and the names were also changed to avoid legal problems with Midway since then.

Actually i had this game on real console when i was a kid... and for its time, it was amazing!
Certainly one of my favorite games of my childhood.
