I just wanted to drop my first impressions of the CRKD Gibson Les Paul Controller here as a quick spot for people to get an idea of what to expect.

My specific Guitar: Special Edition Multi-Platform
Features: Cherry Red Low Profile Switches for Neck Frets, Hall effect strumbar with vibration

Pros vs a GH3 standard Les Paul:
- Buttons are physically lower meaning less travel time between buttons for fast hammer-ons/Pull-offs (Think closer to RockBand's fret style but not completely flush
- Interchangable neck styles, Membrane GH, Keyswitch GH, and RockBand style
- Wired or Wireless as an option on the same controller
- It passes most strum tests

Cons:
- Backwards Compatibility works only until Guitar Hero Aerosmith on PS2, there is no proper PS2 controller port adapter for playing GH 1-3 and Rocks the 80s on original hardware (Yes I know it's niche)
- No Neck option with the World Tour/5 Touch Strip
- Strum Bar style is locked to either the Limited edition variant or the Tribal Variant.
- Raking is a little awkward due to the shape of the strum bar but not impossible

I've been collecting Guiter Hero and Rock Band guitars, and been modding my own for a couple years now.. and somehow I completely missed that this exists. I want one now xD Thank you for the write up!

A recent conversation on here has me currently searching eBay for 2nd-hand Guitar Hero games. May as well search up a controller too hehe

Cheers for the recommendation!

They're currently sold out, but you'll want to go to RetroCultMods and get the RCM PS2 Host (USB to PS2) conversion dongle. I literally just now tested it on GH2 with the CRKD Les Paul and it works great (minus the fact that tilt activation for Star Power does not seem to work, although the activation button is in a great spot so this isn't too terrible a downside).

(As a personal note, playing GH2 on a modern setup can be an exercise in frustration due to the inability to manually input lag numbers, and the fact that there's no way to separate the audio and video lag. That being said, playing it with a far newer guitar controller is a cool experience.)
- No Neck option with the World Tour/5 Touch Strip
Considering that the team behind this controller talk a lot about taking community feedback to heart and wanting to be able to add features in the future, I bet that this could be a real possibility for the future if enough people request it.
