I get the sentiment but I don't think this is the solution. Putting them here is too impersonal. I wouldn't want people to stop doing it either, I'm sure the birthday wishes mean something to someone.
What we really need is more filter options, like one that only shows posts made by users on their own profile. Actually that sounds kind of perfect, maybe someone should put that in the site suggestions.
