We're excited to announce that, later this year, we will be launching a completely redesigned and reimagined Amazon Luna that combines innovative social party games with amazing blockbusters to make every night in your house the perfect game night to share with your family and friends. These new additions are all included with Prime at no additional cost. The all-new Luna will empower Prime members to play games in the same way they enjoy content on Prime Video or Amazon Music, across the devices that they already own and prefer to use. And there's no special hardware required – just launch Luna on your Fire TV, smart TV, or tablet, and you're playing in seconds.

Seems like this has been tried before, hmm...
Can't remember how it went tho...

Don't forget the OG:

I remember people hyping up all 3 of these so much. I can't believe how seriously people took Ouya at the time. Who wants to play phone games on a television? I don't even want to play them on a phone.
I absolutely forgot about that <much like everyone else 5 minutes after its announcement>

That snoop dog game looks actually kind of funny. I dont mind a bit of casual gaming in the right places if I dont have to sign up for stuff and pay monthly

At the time, I kind of wanted an Ouya. Not to use it for TV or phone games.
I was going to wait until it could be modded to be a decent little emulation cube... but then the PS Vita came out and I said "Nah, I'll get that instead."

I hate to say but I was a little excited about Onlive at the time since I was young and dumb.

Too bad we never got this open world San Andreas-style Snoop game:

The gaming oligarchy will continue to push us into a subscription base model until something sticks like Microsoft's gamepass did. They share the same control freak investors that demand less access to the game itself to erode and eradicate any kind of modification.
If you dont own the games then the landlord will keep hiking the rent.
Lower prices is the bait, give enough time to let people play for a bit, getting far into whatever game they're playing; immediately they announce they're upping the fee like a hook catching as many fishes that won't cancel they subscription as possible.
As that would be alot of time waste for the users if they cancel their subscriptions.

I mean look at Stadia.... That was a Google owned and developed thing, and Google has more money and ability to do it right. Had they not had their heads up their asses and actually made it connect reliably like they advertised, it probably would be a contender to Xbox and PlayStation right now.

But no, they Fucked Around and Found Out. Just like Microsoft will probably do with the new Gamepass price shit they are pushing

Google has more money and resources than Amazon has ever thought about when it comes to things like this, and They couldn't make it work.. Amazon may or may not have more Money now, but they have nowhere Near the Computing power and setup Google has.

If Luna makes it a year, I’d be surprised.

Gross.

"Please maintain your prime sub, or you lose access to any games we 'gave' you on Luna, as well as the library of cloud streaming games that you don't want to play anyway because cloud gaming is fucking ass."

This takes "You'll own nothing and like it" to a new level. I'll just continue stealing shit, thanks. You've just made it easier to let go of that last lingering guilt over doing it after all these years.

Hard pass. I didn't even watch the video, but is this timed to try and capitalize on the negative game pass press? Like some amazon guy went, 'hearts and minds, press publish!'

Hey... Deus Ex, Bladerunner, Shadowrun and all of you, you were right! We get it! But stop rubbing it in, will ya?

My phone giving me free party games that technically i still don't own but at least i don't need a shitty subscription nor a fee (Even if i do i pay per game instead of per week):

Been there. I was really in love with Ouya, but never wanted to get the thing full-price and waited for it to have a price cut, because I knew it wouldn't last. If I had found one for half the price, I would have it already. Now it's too late, and I would spend 20€ tops.

But I am surprised with these news, as Amazon is almost ditching Android completely in favour to their own Vega OS. By the end of 2026, there won't be any new Amazon device coming with Android, or at least that's their willing.

I hope they loose a lot of money from this
Me to, But...
They could lose a billion dollars and it wouldn't matter. Mega companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc., basically have infinite money. I know they don't, but they may as well.

I hate this whole game streaming bullshit
Only positive that all those products flop miserably
I agree. But the fact remains that Microsoft made nearly 5 billion dollars last year with Game Pass streaming. So its not going away anytime soon.
