It's thanks to them that we have this medium the way it is today and I'm wondering if you've read some of their work.

I especially like Black Jack but I also do enjoy Captain Harlock and some of Ishinomori's work like Sabu to Ichi Torimono Hikae (The North Wind is Like the Neighing of a Black Horse) and his A Link to the Past comic for Nintendo Power but I need to read more from the others.

What are your favourites from them?

Sorry about that, I've mostly named the first ones that came in my head.
lol all good. i'd say of tezuka, metropolis is an easy one that comes to mind. it's an interesting story that famously got adapted in the 2000s as an anime film. the main media i consumed by nagai's hand would be the obvious choices: mazinger z, getter robo, devilman. unfortunately, their stories didn't get adapted well into anime due to television audiences seemingly wanting more... eh... *child friendly*? (as child friendly as those series can be lol) media on TV. they suffered from the same "monster of the week" tropes that a lot of anime from that time did. i'm going to be honest though, i'm not familiar with the others.

Sorry to be blunt and off topic but: you forgot to also mention that: Moto Hagio, Riyoko ikeda, fujiko Fujio, ikki Kajiwara, Yoshihiro Tatsumi, Sanpei shirato, Shigeru Mizuki, Yoshihiaru Tsuge, Takao saito, Mitsuteru Yokoyama, Kazuo Koike, and tetsuya chiba shaped the medium into it's current form that we now see today

What are your favourites from them?
I've actually had periods of time where I just binge Osamu Tezuka manga, especially ones I've never read before, but my absolute favorite of his will ALWAYS be Black Jack no matter how many I read. I love to reread it yearly because of that. Pheonix/Hi no Tori would probably be my second favorite of his.

Shigeru Mizuki
Quoting because I want to say that I love Gegege no Kitaro.

Astro-Boy, Devilman, Mazinger Z and Gun Frontier are the ones I like and know of. If I may also add Asao Takamori, Takahiko Inoue and George Morikawa's sports manga.

Cutie Honey and Astro Boy. Those are the ones i've only really seen.

I was already sad thinking "woh indeed, i am aware of those guys and notice their influence everywhere but i havent actually read any of their works"..

but turns out i did read that A Link to the Past one! hahahah and i like it a lot i think its rly charming. Time to right my wrongs and go check out some master works.
