I'm kind of confused; what's the difference with Phantasia X?

Broadly speaking FVE plays a lot closer than the SNES original and the PS1 port. There is a pause for spell casting for example and the combat pacing is closer to those earlier versions too.

Should I play this or Cross Edition? Play this version if you prefer the slower-paced battle system of the PSX version and don't want the extra Rondoline content. Otherwise, play Cross Edition.

It's a little misleading, but I'm following the naming convention the author set. [Vanilla] has no quality of life changes backported. In other words, the version without any added tags has them. The saves aren't compatible.

The game is fully translated to English for subtitles as the voices they added are in Japanese.

I was going to ask the same, just a few days ago I've put the patched X version on my Adrenaline!

Never played either psp version before, which one would a Tales fan recommend more?
