Heroquest is a fantastic dungeon crawler that I played as a little kid in the late 90s early 2000s.

I'll also second Atmosfear, but throw in this beauty:

This is the sequel to the original Atmosfear and also features the classic VHS tape guy screaming "The black hole!" at you. I also actually still own this game, despite not owning a VHS players (luckily, people have added the VHS tapes to YouTube so I can play it either way)

Baldurs Gate III has re-inspired my love for TTRPG gaming. Now my Youtube algorithm is giving me videos about the drama with DnD "5.5e" which I didn't know existed.

I guess that means all my books are outdated but that doesn't matter because everyone seems to be playing new systems, great time to get back in lol.

On the bright side learning about all of this had lead me to discovering old school Dnd games which actually seem pretty cool for what they were working with back then.

:love: and all the cool pixel art

DnD "5.5e"
That whole thing is such a mess, the evolution of 5th ed has been really strange with its supplementary rules scattered across like 3 different sources. The new book you'd think would make it less confusing, but somehow has made it more confusing which is kind of counterintuitive, obviously.

Hell yeah, I've been thinking of getting into the old Gold Box games lately. Spelljammer is up there on the one to start with first, either that or Eye of the Beholder.

I really, really, REALLY want to get into D&D but I don't know anyone around me who plays, and I'm hesitant to join a group of strangers as I've heard horror stories.
It's been a while since I posted in this thread, but I wanted to follow up and say that I'm in a DnD group now! We've only had 2 sessions so far, but I've been having a lot of fun with it.

idk but I think my sibling like pathfinder
Yesterday, I do be trying some solitaire board games tho and seeing if it works with bots
Vassal do be hella laggy tho

I'm glad you found one, everyone deserves a good DnD group. What character did you jump in with?

I ended up just going with a Fighter. I wanted to keep it kinda simple for my first go, and the party needed a frontliner.

I joined to TTRPGs in the mid 2000s with my first experience with Called of Cthulhu . We played for 4 years and IT was amazing . Had an brutish Irish adventurer called Gary McDingston . He was a Force of Nature . Beat a Professional Boxer , sneaked through innsmouth like he was invisible and saved 2 Friends by carrying them through the woods and escaped a Ritual horribly wrong . Best Character i had.

Played D&D 5e after and was a DM . At first it was awesome and my campaign hold out for 2 years till the feature-creep sneaked in and 5e became Marvels avengers on steroids in a Fantasy world .
I cant state this enough. I despise D&D 5e .

Right now im playing an extremly homebrewed version of White Box and its glorious !

Have Shadowrun 6e on my shelf too that i wanna play (and homebrew it later on to reduce the horrible Rules Chaos into something more smoother and playable) and even the Mutant chronicles 2e TTRPG on my PC too .

Otherwise i sometimes play Mutant chronicles warzone with few friends and about normal Boardgames , its much more cthulhu and 5 minute Dungeon .

Hell yeah, the fighter I think is actually one of the funnest classes in 5e, in my opinion of course. Action Surge is a really good ability and it has some pretty fun subclasses on top of that.

I read way more than I've ever (and will likely ever) play. If a particular system catches my eye, I'll tend to read the core rulebook for no other reason than that.

It's been years since I've done an actual play though. I'm an eternal GM with the few friends I can pull together and have always had to try and wrangle some strangers to add to the numbers. It's exhausting trying to learn the game, prep for a session, then have several people ghost you for the effort.

I've only had a little bit of D&D experience, but it was a blast!
Some friends and I played a campaign from the official My Little Pony tabletop game many years ago now. It was so much fun, but it's really hard these days finding time where I can catch up with people for long enough to play any sort of tabletop game

I love TTRPGs, I have a huge list of games I want to try spanning many different genres, engines and playstyles, but finding a group is so damn difficult, from what I've witnessed many people want to play but very few put some actual effort into roleplaying and learning the game, even with rules light systems. I've also had my fair share of horror stories, both involving (now ex) friends and weird strangers, I'm so damn tired of hunting for a group of decent people I haven't actively searched for a group in months now, as the last time I tried it got so weird and uncomfortable it turned off my will to play for a while.
Then, my IRL friends can't play much as they have their own group from before I knew them, although we managed to play a super fun homebrewed Monster Hunter D&D5e campaign, and we're gonna play a Pathfinder 2e one-shot I'm writing for the holidays, I still need to find a group for myself.

My playing experience currently consists of:

-Cyberpunk V3 as a player, but it lasted for like 4 sessions::sailor-embarrassed;

-D&D 5th edition, played it for a good 3 years before I grew tired of the system, at the time I was alternating as a DM and player with an ex-friend who suddenly ghosted the group::cirnoshrug;

-Pathfinder 2nd edition, both as a player and as GM and it's my current favourite system to play on both sides, I've been playing it for 4 years. I played with 3 different friend groups, then with another group I found through the unofficial Discord, people I enjoyed a lot playing with, sadly they all have busy jobs and the time zone difference was insane.

I'd give my right knee to finally try out Lancer, Ryuutama and a lot other stuff ::booshy
