Just finished Alisa and Res Evil 7

In my backlog I have

Silent Hill Homecoming
Silent Hill The Room
Fatal Frame Project Zero
Res Evil 5
Res Evil 8
Res Evil 2 recent remake (played original)
Res Evil 3 recent remake (played original)
Res Evil 4 recent remake (played 4 HD about three years back)

Getting the best stuff out of the way, what would you suggest next?

If you want some more indie Survival Horror, Signalis and Crow Country are very good options.

Deep Fear on the saturn is a cut and dry resident evil clone, but I like the setting and it's actually decent voice acting aside.

Kuon
EchoNight / EchoNight Beyond
Clock Tower
Cold Fear
Alone in the dark
Soma
Penumbra
Amnesia
Visage
Outlast
Phobia
Rule of Rose
Forbidden Siren
Dino Crisis
Alien Isolation
Kona I & II
Tormented Souls
Remothered

The music is good too and made by the guy who did ghost in the shell stand alone complexes soundtrack.

RE 3 Remake is short and fun, something you can get out of the way quickly. I won't comment on how it compares to the original, which I never played, but it's fun on its own merits.

RE 5 is mediocre in my opinion and a disappointing follow up to the legendary RE 4.

I have played some of Signalis and it's very good.

There's also Dead Space, which is classic.

If you're looking for something not quite survival horror but still a fun horror game there is Until Dawn (the original) which is one of my all time faves.

The Chant is decent, silly fun. I never did finish it though.

Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 are absolutely worth playing. DC 2 was basically RE 4 before we had RE 4.

From that backlog I'd recommend RE2 Remake next if you want to go from best to worst, followed by either RE4 Remake or maybe RE5, then Fatal Frame.

Have beaten RE2 Remake about 30 times, so I'm going to have to recommend that one ::smirk1

Turbo Kid is right, RE5 is mediocre at best and is only even remotely interesting with a friend in coop. Even then, just play RE4 (or even RE6, which is pretty awful, but still significantly more interesting than 5--AND it has coop).

Some people say RE8 is really underwhelming, but I think it's awesome. It wears its RE4 inspirations on its sleeve and all of the major villains are inspired by classic horror movie tropes (Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc...). You'd be forgiven for not noticing, since they're so disgusting and creepy that it's easy to miss.

I know it's not in your backlog, but the Silent Hill 2 remake is also excellent. If you get a chance, I'd say give that a go, too.

Manhunt
Manhunt 2 (I can consider them horror games)
Resident Evil 2002
The Last of Us
Silent Hill
Silent Hill 2 (both OG and remake)
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Dying Light
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Doom 3

Well, if you played Alisa, which is a modern indie survival horror, then I'd say you'll also like:

Heartworm
Fear the Spotlight
Sorry We're Closed
Labyrinth of the Demon King

Other than that, people here already listed everything I wanted to suggest anyway. Though nobody mentioned Haunting Ground yet so I'm gonna fix that.

Highly highly highly recommend not rly bothering with RE5 unless you have someone to play with. It is a great game but it is one of the few instances where playing with AI really brings the experience from great down to mostly decent but with some really rough moments.

Anyways, since you just finished RE7 you may as well continue Ethan's story with RE8 while 7 is fresh in your mind. Most RE games aren't direct sequels in that way and while RE8 does stand on its own, having 7 fresh in your mind helps its story hit a bit harder imo.

I have to ask if SIlent Hill Downpour is omitted on purpose or if you've already played it?

Only asking because I find it to be a severely underratted game in its modern state with all of the bug fixes and chagnes made post launch.

Highly recommend it if you've not already tried it out. Easily the best western SH game IMO.

Horror is not my thing and I only really like Silent Hill 2 and 4 (And never thought genre of Resident Evil was horror because it's horror my ass lol) but I like some "horror games":

The only other game that managed to scare me after Silent Hill 4 lol. Cosmic horror is serious shit yooo!!!!

Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft made baby!!! lol

This visual novel has 2 solid horror routes.

The game is "2 games in 1" with 2 different storyline so one of them is horror route.

If you want retro horror games.

Its first episode is a solid horror.

Its one of the early mission is da infamous horror mission lol.

Hard disagree... But that's because I personally believe Village's story to be the worst of the main series.

As for me... Well, I've been putting off finishing my current playthrough of J-horror FPS F.E.A.R. 2 for months, so I should finish it right now. I've also been playing RE Revelations, the Dead Space remake, and Revelations 2, the latter of which I put off because Moira Burton is the worst, most annoying character in the RE universe.

Haunting Ground. That game is fucked up.

Go for a Silent Hill game. From your list, I'd pick Silent Hill: The Room since I prefer playing games in release order. I'm curious about it myself, but I'm still working my way up.
