Supposed Shenmue IV Reveal Trailer leak, Real or Fake? [Confirmed Fake]

Seen people debating whether this is legit or AI made. The low quality makes it hard to tell but certain things do look a little off. Not sure if the flaws are the result of an early development build or AI inconsistencies. Anyway what are your thoughts? I want to believe it's real but I have my doubts.

I'm no Shenmueologist but I really hope that is fake. Also a 4-minute trailer for something that early (hopefully really early given how it looks) doesn't seem likely? Just a guess.

My gut is telling me that shit is fake. Don't know if I'd say it's AI, looks more like an amateurish fan project to me (Maybe a combo of both), but the janky animations, weird model quality dips and just the genuinely awful editing and pacing of the trailer, I'd find it very difficult to believe this is official. Tbh after the shit show and fallout of Shenmue 3, I'm surprised they're still even considering continuing the series.

Has anyone watched the Shenmue anime? I want more! And tbh, this looks good to me idc. If this is real, it's rough, but after some touch-ups I can see it turning into something awesome.

Shenmue 3 is getting a remaster, hoping it sells.

yeah if it's fake I don't really think it's AI, at least not fully. Just though I'd mention it since I've seen so many bring it up. It kind of looks like it's reusing a lot of assets from Shenmue 3 so a fan mock-up isn't that much of a stretch. Also the fight animations are truly awful lol.

Shenmue is one of those games where I appreciate its legacy, more than I actually like or enjoy playing it. I hope Shenmue fans and diehards get the closure they want, though. So, in that regard, I would want a Shenmue 4 to be real.

Shenmue had a huge impact when i first played it, being lost in that world, the ambience, interaction, the music. for as much flack Shenmue 3 got, I still love the vibe.
Hoping its real, that trailer doesn't seem fake.

Edit: The quality/look of the game will be similar to 3, after all 3 was funded by Kickstarter originally, so to be fair I am actually expecting an on par budget.

It's difficult to say whether it's real or not but I'm of the opinion that only if the makers of the game announce something can you believe it, otherwise it's all just speculation.

While I'm happy that Shenmue 3 happened and I still enjoyed it for what it was, I definitely had much higher expectations. That said, I'd be there day one for a Shenmue 4. I still have to play Air Twister; I've had the physical PS5 copy for a long time but just haven't gotten around to it.

I was thinking it was fake but the amount of time and detail someone would have to put in to make new scenes in UE4, make new models, generate fake voice lines, and know the lore/story to such an extent that it would pass the "the story looks real" check from shenmue fans...I'm not gonna hold my breath but I wouldn't be surprised if this is authentic, it just looks like such Shenmue 3 jank that it would be really fucking bizarre for someone to spend likely months working on this to make a 4 minute long video to rattle 34 people who have all been burned repeatedly by Shenmue nonsense for 2 decades.

I also truly cannot grasp how much is possible with just AI but I've been listening to Corey Marshall speak in games for so long that the cadence and awkward delivery is just too similar.

But I suppose some people doubted.

I'm pretty sure Shenmue is a dead franchise. That 3rd part was just a catastrophe in many ways, and the least important of them were the outdated graphics, which of course, at least had their "logic".
Sorry Yu Suzuki, but you were not up to the task after almost 20 years of people waiting that game. The pacing and the gameplay experience was just horrible, as well as the wasted story in a full new chapter long awaited for many many years. Oh, well...

I don't expect enough people paying again a crowdfunding... to receive a new Shenmue game that does not conclude or at least advance the story in a motivating way. What a bummer Shenmue III was.

At least Yakuza series can be considered its descendant.
