I remember being super disappointed with the latest Ultimate Alliance game for Switch. It had a sick roster and great artstyle, but the combat was just too dull and that mobile game-tier leveling tree just killed my interest. For [I]actual[/I] retro games, the Batman game on NES is one of the best, I think. Hard as hell though, I've never beaten it for sure.
