Super Robot Wars, a series near and dear to my internet heart, one of the first videos I saw on youtube was a Video of Asuka from Eva mowing down Titan MS's form Zeta gundam.

For those who don't know, SRW is a loooong standing Strategy RPG series, like a fire enblem. but most of the entries are a crossover game with any and almost every Mecha anime you know of. And with the Direct, a new SRW has been announced and the speculation on what other shows and what the interactions would be. Though most of the series has not even to the west due to the licensing nightmare for most of it's existence, a few are starting to make their way. It seems that the latest is also coming out in the west, even with a Macross on tow.

SRW Y was the best reveal from today's Direct, too bad Nintendo didn't deem it worthy of being featured in the western version.

As per tradition, let's hear your speculation on Y roster. But before that, let us celebrate Macross return to mainline series.

I think half of it would be ripped straight from 30, so Hi nu, Mazinger Infinity, and Voltes V would probably make the cut, I hope Back Arrow and Grendizer make the list too.
We haven't seen a series with OP unit yet so.... Zeorymer pls?

When I saw it, I LOST MY $#!+....Huge Super Robot Taisen Fan and can't wait to get my hands on it. Just hope the DLC has some great OG series characters from previous games. Would love to see Kazama from W and all his op glory....with a bad ass remix of his bgms.

Always Happy to see a new SRW game. One of the reasons I get to discover new mecha anime to watch. Guess I'll play this first before going into SRW30. Played through both GBA games and J, PSP Alpha, V, X and PS2 OG.

I'd love for Big O and Trider G7 to make their return

You know, I'm surprised they haven't done a DB crossover yet since Bandai Namco are the main developers of DB games as well. Like General Black's Robot, Dr Wheelo, maybe one of the Androids, Broly, etc.
Fans: Mom, can we have DB on SRW?
Bandai Namco: We have DB at home dear.
DB at home:

As for me at the moment:
- Dynazenon (Pretty obvious at this point)
- Either Goldran or Dagwon
- Voltes V
- Gunbuster or Diebuster
- Any Mazinger series or just Infinity again but with a cool twist (Grendizer U seems like an overrated pick imo, it just ended recently)
- TTGL
- Gyrozetter (Just maybe even with the car licensing?)
- Kyoukai Senki (Came around at the same time as Getter Arc)
- And lastly, Megaton Musashi

The reason why I liked the SRW franchise was because of those fan-made MAD (Massive Action Douga) videos which use the main themes of the series by JAM Project (Masanobu Endoh) since the first SRW Alpha Gaiden, combined with the robot attack animations.

So, a new Super Robot Wars is coming? All those fucking games are the same thing, lol. Watch the super long animations; attacks don't even matter; just use the most powerful ones you have; there is no strategy whatsoever....

The ONLY good one is actually a pretty underrated one, and I don't think it's part of the Super Robot Wars but plays the exact same and it's not Super Deformed shit; it's called REAL ROBOT BATTLE LINE for the Playstation 1. That one is the best of them all; sadly, it's Japanese only, but with a translator you can understand the story, which is pretty good, and it's not as convoluted as the other Super Robot Wars games, whose story is all over the place and seems like the devs just do whatever with the story.

Actually, Musica, the main character of RRBL, was pretty loved by fans, and in Japan they wanted a comeback of her in other games. But it seems like it won't happen because, while it actually plays like an SRW game, it's not part of the franchise.

Only on the newer entries, and people normally play on the highest difficulty, where enemies scales alongside you.

Yeah, they scale alongside you but forget about some actual strategy, which is the genre of this game; actually, there is no strategy whatsoever; it doesn't matter who you use; everyone can be a powerhouse if you upgrade them all to the max. I think SRW games are loved for their animations only.
You can use some soul skills to get more defense or have extra accuracy on your next attack, but that's it; the game itself never changes its formula. I much prefer something like SD Gundam G Generation, where there is actually a lot of strategy.

Again, only on the newer entries, and only on the lower difficulties which older fans usually avoid due to it being too easy, and you obviously never played the OG series.
What makes it easy though in my opinion, is because they dumbed down a lot of old features like terrain bonus and unique pilot traits, SP management was a thing too back in the day, you also usually can't get FUB on all units in a single playthrough. I hope they could bring these back this time.
Another reason is also because of the power scaling, understandably part of the fan service, sure it's funny seeing Boss Borot outdamage a Getter unit, although it don't make much sense lore wise.

I would love to see a new Super Robot Taisen/Wars in pixelart tho.

They're still the most satisfying ones for me(like J and W, and Alpha Gaiden -- although Alpha Gaiden is not really 100% pixelart I think). Just thinking about what they could achieve with modern pixelart, as long as they don't fill it up with lighting effects like neons and stuff which I really don't care.

Wrong, played the OG series as well, all the same crap, buddy. I even find the Lord of the Elementals better than any SRW game. Go and play Real Robot Battle Line if you think you know them all.

It's the acceptable kind of sd, it's nowhere near the look of actual modern sd like those three kingdoms ones or the World Heroes, those things are truly fugly.
Thats true, cant say anything against that. The SD Gundam series was the worst too, but on Genesis they look better.

Sure thing mate, my point still stands, I did play most of them including RRBL.

J and W are satisifying to watch despite it being a pixel art, I'd love to see the GBA games remastered to this standard.

You remind me of a guy I had argument with back on Gaia online who would be upset that ace combat existed and that everyone should move to LOMAC

on Gaia online, the anime minigame forum thing.
he got really upset when I mentioned Skyrim despite us not having dragons.

So are you going into a forum about a thing you don't like just to be upset? 1/4th of your current post are in this thread? Are you okay?
