While great hacks no doubt, as someone who grew up with the GBA version and has nostalgia for it, the screen crunch makes me unable to go back to, same thing with Mega Man & Bass and Yoshi's Island tbh.

Instead, what I'd really like is a hack of the SNES version (Super Mario All-Stars+World) that brings all the voice lines and level design changes from the GBA to the SNES, and perhaps ports Mario Bros. Arcade from the GBA as well, that version would be perfect if it's not for the screen crunch and had proper local multiplayer.

The 3 hacks of Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World are quite solid that help to improve the game itself especially the restoration of the color palette that makes the color range completely faithful to the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo version and at the same time reduces the exaggerated brightness of the color gamut that it originally had although it was intentional due to the original model of the GBA which is AGS-001 did not have backlight on the LCD screen so it was Common, Although in the SP model it had a backlight at least one level to increase the brightness on the screen.

That's true, I'd forgotten about the 30th Anniversary thing. I guess I don't play it because I like using SNES9X and that hack can be unstable on it.
Ah, right. I forgot how fickle the 30th anniversary hack can be on certain emulators. Well, I'm glad we have this GBA version to play then. It's always good to have more options.

This combination of hacks is how I've replayed the game as of late, although I also patched it with a hack that uses the Luigi sprite from Super Mario All-Stars + World instead. I just prefer that look for Luigi, that's all.

I'm not sure if I totally agree with this making the SNES version moot, as there's also the Super Mario World 30th Anniversary Rom Hack which back-ports elements from the GBA version to the SNES version. Then again, there are other additions to the SNES hack that go beyond the GBA content that may deter purists. So depending on your preferences, this GBA version may very well be the definitive version of the game.

On the other hand, the music of the GBA version is still mostly bit-crunched (even with the hacks) and you still have to deal with the GBA's lower screen resolution. Minor stuff in the grand scheme of things, but my point is that there's caviets no matter what version of Super Mario World you play.

If you're someone who doesn't mind the lower screen resolution and the music samples being a bit lower quality, then play this GBA version. If you don't mind the additional content added to the 30th Anniversary hack of the SNES version, then that might be the version for you.

Nice to see that it makes use of the "SNES Color Restoration" patch. Never been a fan of the washed out colors of the original.
Me either, I cherrypicked all the good improvements I could think of. SMA2 - SMW DX is amazing even by itself, but with SNES accurate colors and drum sounds it's even better.
