Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary

Afaik they’re more or less the same, but the Switch version has that Bowser’s Fury thing included which is like a small but unique standalone Mario game in the same engine.
i have looked it up online and it seems like there are a host of little changes made to the game, such as characters moving quicker by default in the switch version
it seems like the switch version is the way to go then

Owned both. Play Switch. The game has a speed increase that CAN mess with some small scripting, but it’s a small price to pay for being able to perform even more sauce during level runs.
There’s more content, there’s online play, and the game is on a system that isn’t trying to die if you get unlucky with the power supply.

I was telling my homie that they need to make a Paper Mario collection. Just 64, TTYD, and Super. Keep them the same, maybe restore the japanese scripts and completely uncensor TTYD, but that'll never happen. We got the poopy ass TTYD Remake instead.

3d land was ok and i have never consumed the 3d world burger
I almost expected that the 3D something sub-series was the replacement for the New sub-series on the 3DS and Wii U until their respective entries got announced.

It's probably nostalgia speaking but the original NSMB on the DS is still the most interesting of the four (five if you count New Luigi U) with the ideas and how it borrows a lot from Mario 64 (since it's the Super Mario 64 DS engine).

NSMB Wii had the coop multiplayer going for it at least but I don't have a lot of fond memories since it can quickly turn into a mess lol.

On a side note I wish they could make a 3rd 3D-something game in the same vein as 3D Land/World because I like the 3D movements in a classic level structure. Bowser Fury should be used as a groundwork for the next fully 3D Mario game.

PS: I cannot believe that the Gameboy Micro of Mario's anniversary is as old as Mario itself was back when it came out...
