Suikoden remaster and the rebirth of Konami?

I would absolutely love the chance to play some of these, especially the Castlevania one — some of those cutscenes are HOT!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 I’ve tried to find one in Las Vegas every time I’ve been there, but no dice… I’m certainly more interested in Konami’s bloody pachinko games than anything they’re putting out on consoles.
I never liked analog machines like pinball or pachinko personally (not that I've ever seen a pachinko machine), but even if I had the chance, I'd never play it. One person isn't going to change anything, but my refusal is my way of protesting Konami's focus on them.

As someone outside the series, I heard 1, 2 and 5 are the strongest, most consistent entries, while 3 and 4 are meh. Is there truth to this?
3 is great. It was the first 3D one so it takes a little getting used to. 4 was the first one I played. I've played through 1-5 and the DS game, but Maybe because it was the first game in the series I played it's my favorite one although most will disagree with me. It's just so different from the entries in the title I can see why people who played the other entries first would disagree.

Also a fan of Konami since the NES days. This remaster is what i've been waiting for. Honestly it seems like Konami remembered they made video games again and it looks like they are back. Hopefully this continues and maybe the other three mainline Suikoden games make it to modern platforms.

Personally, I've always been more of a fan of Konami's weirder stuff. Things like Parodius and Goemon. I even rather enjoyed their Tokimeki Memorial games and the old YuGiOh games.

Funnily enough though, I've never been able to get into the games that they're most popular for. Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill. They're all so "by the numbers" and dull. They're good games that are well made, but which I find boring and standard.

i've actually been super curious about 3, but ever since my friend (same one who kept telling me to play 2) told me how the battle system works, i just cringed
i forgot the specifics, but basically you can pretty much only control 3 characters, and the 3 back people are just support?? honestly such a dumb idea
6 controllable worked fine for 2 games, so there was literally 0 reason to try and be innovative

I frickin' love Suikoden I and II. Although I have a couple tattoos referencing II, I prefer I because of the brisk pace of the game. I'm looking forward to playing the remasters but am in no rush to buy it. I fell off the series after 3, but might revisit the other games someday, I did play a bit of 4 and Tierkreis at the time.

Has anyone done the secret time-gated sidequest in II? I haven't, but plan to next time I play it.

I don't think it means anything as far as a resurgence of Konami. They are sitting on too many franchises. Sure, there are new Silent Hill games, but that's about it. If nothing else, it'd be nice if they outsourced more franchises to other studios for new games ala Contra and Getsu Fuma. These collections of old games are nice, but where's Vandal Hearts? That's the real question. I want my extremely unnecessary blood geysers!

Suikoden is the greatest series. No I'm not biased.....................................................

3 is actually my favorite despite it being so divisive. I love the writing and what they did with Luc. 4 is bad but with a device that can handle 3-400% speed up there's something to be had underneath it all. Of course, thats only if you REALLY love the suikoden formula. I'd love a new game now konami pls
