Has anyone else watched this YouTube show, which consists of 75 short episodes over 5 seasons?

For those who don't know, the show was made by a Rich Alvarez and a handful of his friends who all played various Nintendo characters, going on various adventures. The first season started off as just a series of random nonsense, but 2nd season and onwards it evolved into something more, getting an actual plot that Rich clearly put a lot of work into, about Mario (himself) and his friends fighting all sorts of dark forces in our world.

If ya'll have played Kingdom Hearts where the first game started off simple and then spiralled out of control with plots about alternate dimensions and dark alter egos... this is similar.

They were clearly having fun making it, and it almost felt like they were all grown-up children who met after school to shoot these scenes in their backyard, as the whole series has this "chill" vibe of being something unprofessional yet highly passionate that would only be made back in YouTube's early days.

Rich had more plans for the series, even years later trying to reboot it with Stupid Mario World, but first off many of his friends had moved, and second the audience just wasn't there anymore. I was personally - as with many other things - late to the party, watching the show WAY after the fact. So I binged the whole thing over the holidays some years ago, and now it feels like I am part of a fanbase that doesn't exist anymore. Like I am so late to the party this time... that everybody else left hours ago.

Which is a shame because for all it's worth this is really good fan fiction and I genuinely found myself engaged with the story. So anyone is interested in what is essentially a live-action take on The Subspace Emissary, I highly recommend it!

...and to those who were there, how was it to be part of the fandom? Because I have seen old footage of Rich and the gang going to convensions in-character and signing fan merch.

75 episodes? 5 SEASONS?! That's nuts man. It feels like I've seen them before. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us!

I watched a few episodes...

This was my first experience with them, actually:

Too bad it's no longer playable...
