When I finally got my new battery for my PSP 3000 I started playing Shattered Memories. I noticed an odd green speck on the screen and thought maybe I sneezed. It wasn't very noticeable during the frozen segments so I didn't really think much of it. But after that I immediately began SH Origins and noticed a red speck instead of green. It wasn't really noticeable in the mirror world so it wasn't a big problem. But at this point I realised it was a stuck or dead pixel.

My PSP is a 3000 that I bought new around 2010 to play Ys 7. I did not use it much after that. I mainly used the radio feature to listen to Howard Stern and classic Art Bell. I started using it again last summer when I installed CFW. When I accidently unplugged it while playing Shattered Memories I got a new battery. That's when I noticed the pixel problem. Although I can't tell for sure when it actually occurred.

There seems to be a second pixel now. Although not on the same horizontal or vertical line as these things tend to be from what I've read. Is this just from the overall age of the PSP itself? It's not like it has suffered heavy use. Do these things ever fix themselves? Since it has appeared green in one game and red in another I assume it's stuck and not dead. I've heard that RGB flasher programs can actually make things worse. Is it guaranteed to get worse anyway?

Not sure if it'll go away on it's own, but just know that it's pretty easy and cheap to replace the LCD on the PSP. So worse case you could always do that.

Yeah so, this happened to my DS Lite. It was a real shame too, but it essentially kept festering and festering till there was a huge black circle in the middle of the screen? the games were still mostly visible and playable but that happened kinda out of nowhere. Plus, the shoulder buttons somehow stopped working at some point (probably because of me using the run button in mother 1+2) and ultimately I had to stop using it altogether because the power switch broke??? Like, it wouldn't turn on when i would tug the switch, but it would also turn on by itself when i didn't want it to? Genuinely i don't know how it got so cooked it was perfectly fine for years.

Since it has appeared green in one game and red in another I assume it's stuck and not dead.
Yes, dead pixels are completely black. I've 2 PSPs and both of them have pixels that are stuck, or not working properly. I think it's just bad luck, there's not much you can do about it, as far as I know. You can always decide to swap the PSP screen with a new one (IPS display /screen). You can buy them on-line and there are tutorials on how to do it, on YouTube. I must add that I don't know if it is worth it. A new screen costs $60,- and a bit of effort. However, the quality is better than the original.

Everything You Need To Know About PSP IPS Displays

I forgot to add, that the new ips screens are for the 1000 and 3000 models, not for the 2000.
