I've tried that romhack long ago but it's a tiny bit jarring to see 32-bits sprites in a 16-bits game.

A pretty solid Romhack from BK2/SoR2 although for some reason the sprites of the Sonic characters are from Sonic Battle but increased the sprite size in x2 (Pixelated).
