This game was originally released on Steam in 2020 for free as a timed event, since then it's been delisted. Really wish somebody would use this to create a full Streets of Rage 2 Rom Hack.

I remember when SEGA released this and some other arcade crossovers from their franchises, since I'm a hardcore Ryu Ga Gotoku fan I grabbed this one the first moment it was available on Steam.

Yes, you can, I just tried it.

I already "own" it, so I can't really test it, but you can probably still redeem it on steamdb. It works for most things like that

I was really disappointed by this at the time. I know it's free, but I would pay for an actual 2D Yakuza beat-'em-up. Made by Sega itself, though, not some small-time Western company.
This is literally just a cosmetic single-level Streets of Rage 2 romhack, it doesn't even play differently.

Wow, didn't know this exist but honestly it was okay that I never knew it because it's rubbish. All characters using the same moves of Axel and it's just one level... even random people develops better games than this. Even as a free "anniversary" shit you gotta be ashamed to release such digital garbage especially when you are a big deal video game company of the industry. You ain't some random indie developer, dude. It kinda felt like an unnecessary waste of potential it's not turned into a full game to sell it. It seems it was planned for a game to sell but they didn't bother going with it so they just released its prototype version for free for what reason I have no idea but anniversary was just an excuse. Perhaps it was a way to test waters on if people would like such a "retro" games to sell such games. Its only worth is using the sprites for SoR hacks and that's all about it lol. It was so rubbish like they are embarrassed by it they took the game down in disguise of "limited time" shit like IDK Sega what you smoking lol. I swear Sega is brain dead since Genesis and they couldn't get their shit together which is prime reasons for why they make fucked up decisions for decades lolol. What a waste of time SMH.

"Streets of Kamurocho is a promotional freeware beat 'em up video game developed by Empty Clip Studios and published by Sega. It's a mashup between Streets of Rage 2 and the Yakuza series, made available in 17 October, 2020 through the Steam store to commemorate Sega's 60 years.

The game features only a single stage, based on the first level from Streets of Rage 2, with the same enemies but with Yakuza makeovers. Once the level is concluded the game loops at a harder difficulty, with the game ending once the player runs out of lives.

Players can choose between Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima initially, with Ichiban Kasuga appearing as an unlockable character. However, all three characters play the same, with their moveset being based on Axel Stone's.The game features only a single stage, based on the first level from Streets of Rage 2, with the same enemies but with Yakuza makeovers.

This was also in the same event as that leaked prototype of the cancelled Golden Axe Reborn by Sega Studios Australia, Endless Zone (Endless Space x Fantasy Zone) and Armor of Heroes (when Sega had the Post-THQ Company of Heroes publishing rights)

Sega made it and cancelled it, then they put it online for a short amount of time alongside other demos for cancelled games including a cancelled Golden Axe game and some war time strategy game.
