PC Steam: New hope for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users

I read something interesting about Steam on the internet. The Steam client now only supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. The latest beta has now been ported to Windows 7 and Windows 8, so players with an unsupported operating system are no longer excluded. Valve's official Steam client has only supported Windows 11 and its predecessor, Windows 10 since the beginning of 2024. However, the latest beta version from December 4, 2025, has now been ported to Windows 7 and Windows 8 that meaning players with unsupported operating systems are no longer excluded. This unofficial backport, created by "Eazy Black," is now available for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.x. Like @TheBobPony Steam states that Windows 7 and Windows 8 must first be fully updated before the adapted Steam client will run fully and stably on these older operating systems.
