Which Handhelds device you rather have?

A Steam Deck or Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+?

Steamdeck for x86 steam games, the A9 can kinda handle some steam games using gamehub, but it's nowhere near the steamdeck's performance in that usecase

I have an ipad that i read manga and watch toku on. For gaming I have a Switch, Vita, 3DS. I use Sunshine on vita and stream my pc games to it. It's rad in that way

I don't know what the tablet is like, but from my own experience, android gaming is only actually enjoyable if the device has dedicated cooling (like the retroid pocket thingies)

The tablet = 2.4 ghz octacore, Adreno 619 gpu @ 950mhz, 4/8GB RAM

Steam Deck = 3.5 ghz quadcore, AMD RDNA 2 gpu @ 1600mhz, 16GB RAM

I think the winner here is Steam Deck.

How is this even a choice?
Ofc it's the Steam Deck.
Linux OS (that you can change to whatever you want, even Windows if in a pinch); built in controller (even if they are only about a 5/10 good if you didn't get the early models with sticky buttons); bluetooth for any other controllers; can actually be used as a dedicated PC when in a pinch (best with a dock since the USB-C port supports PD); can also be used as a tablet through android emulation.

The A9+ has almost no advantages for it beyond it being thinner and lighter (but not really smaller). In fact, because it's an android, it's already gimped to hell because android OS is fucking cancer, unless it's rooted; then there is some potential, but still nowhere near the usability and ability to multitask like the Steam Deck. Even portability is questionable considering its shape, depending on the type of bag you carry/wear.

Idk, maybe I'm just a crotchety old many but I have never liked tablets because I see no real use for them beyond an e-reader. And if I'm going to do e-reading, I'll buy a proper e-ink tablet. Otherwise, I have 0 issues carrying around books (which I prefer anyway due to being more in the moment and feeling the texture of the pages as I go from one page to the next). so maybe I'm not exactly the right person to answer this question anyway hahaha~

Steam Deck OLED. Anime is going to look better on the steam deck.

I know it's a meme that Steam Deck players don't even play their games but I've been playing both my Steam library and emulated games and I really love it a lot. There's not really any point in getting another console since you can just have all your games and older systems in one portable place.

Granted, I do own an actual PlayStation 2 but I'm probably going to exchange it for a Japanese PS2 when I go over there.

The Steamdeck by design has every verified game optimised to run on it, including current gen PS5/Xbox Series X titles. That's the beauty of SteamOS it forces devs to actually port their games to Linux rather than relying on Wine or another emulator.

That tablet is going to rely on raw power to run things. Which it can probably do well, but brute force is no replacement for good optimisation.

I will say this about the a9+: the autocorrect software & touchscreen are laughably bad.

I'm using it right now in multi widow mode to browse rgt with dkc in lemuroid up top. Gamesir x5s hugging at its sides, in portrait mode. Pretty comfy.
