Started listening to Coldwave. Think it might be the most underrated musical genre. Any fans here?

Started getting into Coldwave and its a style that really speaks to me. Found some really damn good bands. My favorite so far is Martin Dupont who is honestly kinda phenomenal, I'm shocked these guys aren't bigger. Also theres Kas Product, Little Nemo, Réseau D'Ombres, Norma Loy, and ofcourse Siekiera.

Yeah it's not a genre I see mentioned much. I don't think any of the bands are particularly big. The Cures Pornography has elements of Coldwave though.

Wait actually if there ever is a Hotwave, it’s gotta be named the Heatwave genre frfr

I'd never heard of this genre before, but the few songs that I listened to did remind me of The Cure.

I listened to a few of Lebanon Hanover songs and enjoyed all the ones that I listened to. Might look a little more into it.

Asylum Party is the dopest band youve never heard of! the bass player was this dude named Thierry Sobezyk (the guy who basically piorneered the genres sound) and their first 2 albums (out of 3) are excellent beginning to end. The scene they spearheaded was dubbed the "touching pop" movement and came out of France, the music they were making is now what we refer to as coldwave. The bands Mary Goes Round and Little Nemo were pretty solid too, I think the latter is still around

Yess Coldwave is great, if you head over to the Goth Rock thread there's plenty there too, as there's quite the crossover in the styles

one time as a pretty dark joke, I suggested a friend check out some 'snuffwave'. they laughed n we left it at that, as too much thought into darkweb shit angers me enough to go out n fight crime (but end up just hittin a waLL screaming random diatribes instead whiLe a couple ppl on the sidewalk are like O_O)

is coldwave the shit where it's like soap opera dialogue bein slowed down playin backwards for max creepiness? I'm sure that's not coldwave... if it has any commonalities with The Cure's "Pornography" then I'm aLL-in. TORSO FIRST.

I'm not sure the best way to define Coldwave except it's obviously a sub genre of New Wave but with a colder more detached vibe to it and sometimes harsher sound, but yeah it's usually pretty similar to what you hear on The Cures Pornography.
