I thought the difference between the Japanese version wouldn't be much, I see I was wrong.
 
I didn't know that the Japanese version of the game had an English translation and this is interesting, especially the documented changes as shown in the game's description.
 
Back when they thought shoulder pads that look like a flotation device made a character cool.

Also back when they refused to give you the characters (and ships) you wanted, and gave you cheap copies instead. Dash Rendar in his Skyhook, and so on. “We’ll make more money if we make the product worse!” truly brilliant.
You’re thinking Disney SW. This game, while kinda mid, was part of a whole multi-media project to create a new SW movie in every sense short of making an actual movie. You had the book, the comic, the game, toys, even an OST CD as if it was a movie release, It was a neat thing for fans to get something like that. This was even before the Special Editions, too.

I suppose I'll give both this and the NTSC-U versions a shot one of these days. Especially since I know a lot of people like this and I'd like to see what all the buzz is about.
 
This is one of my favorite games. It's been my favorite Star Wars game since we got it back when the 64 was still relevant, I was still under 5 feet tall. With a relatable main character and my awesome dad who got every medal on every stage after I begged him to use the name Wampa Stompa, I had access to the debug mode, resorting to using my face to input the motions for the control stick. Something I feel that most kids never had a chance to do, honestly. I feel lucky for having experienced the depths of the game that I did, and now I feel lucky again today to discover that the Japanese version had so many differences.
