Star Ocean Recommendations?

Ok so I've been playing Star Ocean: The Second Story R and have been really loving it.

I'm interested in playing other games in the series, so what entries would you recommend to someone who loves Second Story?

there's Star Ocean: Till The End of Time on the PS2 and Star Ocean: The Last Hope on 360/PS3, they're consider one of the greatest Star Ocean games to have been created

I've only ever played the snes one and the ps2 one. The snes one is really great. I really enjoyed it, it reminded me of Tales of Phantasia. I didn't really like the ps2 one and I didn't get far in it.

Oooohhh. I have a PS2 emulator and I think Last Hope is on PS4 as well, so I can easily pick that up for cheap.

I played The Last Hope and quite liked it, but I never completely finished it, might give it another go with the HD remaster.

But I think Till the End of Time is probably the best of them, not including The Second Story R now.

Aw man, Rogue Galaxy, just started playing it like 2 days ago, its amazing, but goodness gracious, is it difficult

Definitely second the rec for Rogue Galaxy. What a killer game!

I was not a fan of The Last Hope, but Til the End of Time was a masterpiece. I am still grappling on if I like Second Story R more but if Til the End of Time ever got a competent remaster I think that'd probably put it over.

Other sci-fi RPGs I'd recommend:

Actually, I already played 13 Sentinels! It's one of my favorite games of all time!

I planned on playing Xenogears when the Perfect Works build is done, but I'll check out the other two at some point as well.

Try Blue Sphere, it is a direct sequel of Second Story.

The first one in PSP is very good not much as 2 but still a good ARPG, the black sheep of the franchise is 5, I enjoyed it but is a really meh game and the weakest entry.

If you want smooth combat, The Last Hope is pretty tight. It gets a little monotonous but that could also be because I main Reimi and spike her crit so everything is a cakewalk.

If you want 'best' story(although I would argue that TLH actually has a good protagonist and a well-done story but I'd be drawn and quartered for that opinion), Til the End of Time is your best bet.

I think a lot of people have nostalgia glasses on, tbh. Both TeT and TLH have characterization tropes that are difficult to ignore sometimes(I cannot stand Sophia in TeT), and both have crazy plot stuff, but that's just the JRPG genre in general.

If you want canon chronological order, TLH is the first game in the entire series, and TeT is the last.

Oh, I'll play this after I finish Second Story! (Funny enough I have a GB emulator for a different game so at least now it has a buddy in my GB folder.)
