It's important to keep up with your hobbies, and it's always a shame to fall off watching anime. Sometimes entire seasons pass by with nothing to show for it but Spring 2025 is loaded with new original works, reimagined World Masterpiece Theater, and storied directors returning.

Review the season here!

I've been dipping my feet into a few this season, Lazarus which seems to be off to a stilted start. Watanabe sticking to a familiar style but working with a number of Western staff is making this one feel like it lacks a hook. Mappa's production is solid but I'm not enjoying Lazarus yet. Then there's Anne Shirley which is full of all the whimsy a work like that should have. Great background work and texture, charming character interactions too. Yaiba Samurai Legend is a delight with animation that feels positively electric and masterfully directed. Lastly the best of the season so far has been Apocalypse Hotel featuring character designs by Izumi Takemoto who I immediately recognized from working on some classic VN/Adventure games like Yumimi Mix and The Dino Island. Both episodes have been packed with humor and warmth. Apocalypse Hotel is full of heart and I am confident will be the stand out of the season.

So what are you watching?

Summer Pockets, because i am a key fan.
Apocalypse Hotel, cause its interesting. And reminds me of Planetarian.
Ballpark de Tsukamaete! Has been a pleasant surprise, even though i don't care about baseball, its still a very enjoyable watch.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto 2nd Season, its technically a leftover from last season, but its really good, although the webnovel is better.

I was going to watch Kowloon Generic Romance, but them remembered i dropped the manga cause it was boring af.

Everything here is on queue, I'm gonna watch when I feel like it.

Anna Shirley, it's director Kawamata Hiroshi first time working on TV series, he only worked on movies and one-shot animes before and I never seen his work, I consider checking the others if this turns out good. Also little Honoka finally voiced a main protagonist since years, I don't expect her performance to match that of her mom sister, but I hope it's enjoyable.

Zatsu tabi, I dunno it looks relaxing, the credits listed a staff for Director of Photography which is a role usually involved in anime that has lots of eye candy so that's a good sign, might enjoy it, might as well put it on the list.

Lazarus, Uchida siblings on same production? Unheard of, say no more, count me in.

Ninja to Koroshiya no Futarigurashi, I'm a simple man, I see KitaEri on cast list, I watch.

Worth or must watch for me are
The new Anne remake{Anne Shirley}
Apocalypse Hotel
The new Yaiba remake\reboot{i watched the old Yaiba back in very late 90s so i want to see the newer adaptation]
Kowloon Generic Romance as soon i can
Maybe Gundam Gquux if i find it interesting

Gundam GQuuuuuuuX: I saw the theatre cut of the first few episodes and am very curious where they'll take this, especially with only 12 episodes confirmed. Hopefully it's a little more planned out with such a short length. Or they're just holding off on announcing a second cour.

Apocalypse Hotel: Some friends wanted to watch this so I joined in and glad I did. Surprisingly silly show so far despite the bleak premise. It's wild this is also the first ever anime to have any involvement from longtime mangaka Takemoto Izumi, with the human designs clearly taking after his distinct classical shoujo style.

Umamusume CInderella Gray:
Now this is the big one I'd been excited for. I love the larger series but this one adapts a standalone manga, making it a great new entry point for others, along with being one of the most beloved spinoffs. I haven't been let down so far and am really hoping Cygames Pictures can keep the momentum of the movie and really do justice to the intense races from this.
