About the ROM files: On October 31, 2025, a complete ROM of Splatterworld was anonymously released on 4chan. It was quickly archived by fans and was initially playable only in the FCEUX emulator because it used a rare Namco mapper. The leak made the full game accessible for preservation and future translation work. These are 3 roms I found with different CRCs, from what I assume is the exact same thing with maybe different headers. Bottomline is, as of the time of writing this, that all 3 roms work on FCEUX (or FCEUmm RetroArch Core) and nowhere else. So keep […]

No offense, but I feel that this response and the one from the person you're responding to are in incredibly bad faith. Content Warnings have existed forever, you used to see them on TV all the time. In the early 2000's, there were a lot of classic cartoons that made the jump to DVD and had brief disclaimers at the front for some of the dated content within. There's nothing wrong with putting a Content Warning on something, and to say it's as simple as "No shit, I'm playing a video game, it doesn't mean I condone it" is wildly ignorant in a world where the same ideologies you're poking at are very much in an unfortunate resurgence. You also pointed to Wolfenstein as a support, but the difference there is that you're actively destroying those people in that game. In this one, their leader appears to be a beneficial summon.

This is why I can't stand the typical Tumblr/Reddit attitude; they set the bar so impossibly low for both intellect and basic morality that they can just walk right over it and make themselves feel superior to everyone else.

Apologies for the potentially dumb question as I personally couldn't find the answer to the following question otherwise: does this updated link to the game now include Everdrive compatibility so that it can be played on actual hardware?

The only slight issue I have is that it doesn't save for some reason. I've tried on FCEUX stand alone and retroarch. I don't mind using save states but they can be unreliable.
Saving working fine on FCEUX latest here. Edit: English version, and as an aside since someone else mentioned, run with B button working also.

It's a pretty unnecessary warning and it's clunky how they wrote it. How it's written, it implies it was a controversial decision to keep the game unaltered/uncensored from it's original state, when that should be the expectation with any artistic work, expsecially if preservation is the main goal.

I mean, I personally thought those content warnings were dumb as well and still do. I think the one for this translation is silly but I don't really care either way. It made me laugh like they usually do.

Started a playthrough on my phone. Haven't gotten very far it's more of a fuck around in the middle of the night or before bed kind of thing that I started last night..but it's got alot of charm! Open up the map and there's a nice little world of things to explore. I took a quick glance (without spoiling anything) at the walkthrough someone put up on Gamefaqs and it all seems relatively straightforward (I'm judging this based on the brevity of the FAQ, since I tried not to read past where I was)

Anyways. That's my personal update--This game is mellow as fuck for me :)

The random encounter rate is so high it'll take you days to obtain Hitler.

Edit- Also, why is this thread so weird? The posts are going in reverse.
For some reason that's what happens when the thread is really a comment thread from the main site.

It's really a shame about the encounter rate. I was hoping it'd be more tolerable since it's from 1993 and 16-bit console RPGs generally had more reasonable rates by then (still high, yes, but typically less than half of this). But it's still very much a NES RPG.

I tried loading this on my Everdrive N8 Pro, but I couldn’t get anything to load—am I missing any other steps?
