I'll dare saying that Dragon Quest Builder is as good as mainline.
yeah, the games are pretty good. i'd say the first game had the better story.

By the way, which one do you mean by second game?
There's two for gbc, one for gba, two for nds, one for 3ds, and one for switch!
I have only played the gba and both nds ones so far. ?

oh, i forgot. i keep thinking that there is only two games. tara's adventure for the gbc.

I think Persona fits that description well, doesn't it? even though I've never played a shin megami tensei game yet (I intend to do so when I've gained more experience with old rpgs).

Yeah it definitely started as one, but it probably became it's own thing by the time of Persona 3 and onward.

all that's left for me to do is play the persona 2 duology. Having played p1 recently, i'd say that the game drinks a lot from megaten's fountain, in fact, being quite a punishing game, even if it's short (for example, you can even get to the last dungeon without grinding, but if you get there underleveled, you'll have to spend around 10 hours grinding just to avoid dying to the final boss in 3 turns).

Oh? Well I won't expect a lot from 2.

Shame that we'll never see a third entry...

I love most of the N64 era Pokemon spinoffs. Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2, Pokemon Snap and especially Pokemon Puzzle League were excellent. The less said about "Hey You, Pikachu" the better, but the rest of the spin offs in that gen were great.

That reminds me that I have the fan translated remakes downloaded for my hacked 3DS. I think the monsters of Dragon Quest are some of Toriyama's most fun designs so the idea of catching and battling them sounds right up my alley. Looking forward to diving into these one day!

Wow! didn't know about this one! Looks good! ?
It’s kinda like Pokémon instead of hunting/killing monsters you collect their eggs hatch them and raise them you can even combine/fuse to make a more powerful one. Imagine raising an ice type monster that’s resistant to fire and this one a cool rpg story to it.

The Warrior Orochi franchise, Persona and the many SMT spin offs, Tales of the World, FF Dissidia 012, Star Wars The force unleashed, DotHack Fragment and Link, DBZ Shin Budokai 2 and Metal Gear Rising

Final Fantasy Reishiki/Type 0 is a spin off right?
yes and no. the 13 game set [ff13, ff15 and type 0] share some common stuff like monsters and mythology and terms; but each was allowed to do its own thing with the common background elements.

I loved Type 0 and I was hoping to see a sequel.
that apparently depended on how well the hd port sold.
i'm guessing not well, since there isn't any news yet on a sequel.

I thiiinkkk Fate/Samurai Remnant would count since I think everything not part of the original Stay Night stuff would be a spinoff.

Oh, but definitely a lot of the Mario RPGs are great, and I love them.

Is Klonoa Heroes a spin off ?
Yes! I'll have to play it soon.

Technically Phantasy Star Online is a spin-off of Classic Phantasy Star (or a reboot/sequel? It's relative but a bit soon for these).

AntonBlast is also a spinoff of Anton Ball Deluxe if you think about it.
