Inspired by the article on Ico, SotC and TLG, I started to read the mentioned book, "The World of Fumito Ueda", and it's delightful for me to discover little curiosities from the creative process of this guy. Some simple stuff that seems to be silly at first but then you notice how they could have started a whole "butterfly effect".
My favorite discovery by now is that Ueda-san went to see Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (apparently as a reference for the "clinging" mechanics in Shadow of the Colossus) and immediately afterwards bought the movie's soundtrack to use it in the game's demo!
Thanks to ASapphicKitsune channel, we can see (probably exactly) how Danny Elfman's main theme was used in the well known first footage of SotC, yet called NICO back in the day:
In the video comments, she reminds us that "it was an internal pitch to get the game approved and funded for development. Therefore the [Kow Otani's Shadow of the Colossus] OST didn't even exist yet. It becomes obvious they timed the cuts and action to match the [Spider-man] song."
-
That's it for now. I'm laughing so hard and I needed to share it with as many people as possible! If I find any other thing interesting to share I'll bring it here. I'm thinking into using this thread later as some sort of "rabitt hole" for Team Ico theories or speculations about new releases.
