Do you all have a thing you like about space?

I ask as my girlfriend showed me 'Hello, World' from the Artemis II and it reminded me of my love of the stars.

Not technically space (though a similar feeling), but I like watching auroras at night during wintertime where I live.

But as far as space goes, I particularly like seeing pictures of Earth, like the one you posted.

I actually have a very unique phobia. I'm not a big fan of space stuff, but I do like sci-fi settings in video games.
I hope you'll be okay and thanks for dropping in despite that, sci-fi is cool as heck. You got a fave one?

It counts, as it happens because of space and lets us see the stars. That's awesome!
I come from Wiwiland , a planet far away from the milky way
Do they have forums there?

Is that green hue at the top layer Aerith's Holy or the Mako Energy flowing across the planet?

My favorite thing about space is that it serves as a perpetual reminder of our own insignificance.

We think we're so cool, building pyramids and all that. But at any moment, some giant rock could fall from the sky and wipe out every trace of our entire existence.

We're nothing but a speck of dust in a sunbeam. And all one has to do is take a look at the stars at night to be reminded of that 😌

I really like constellations and nebulae; they look sublime, they're very beautiful, and for some reason they evoke nostalgia or a feeling of peace in me. My favorite nebula is the Horsehead Nebula, which appears in Mega Man X4

Sometimes I like watching minutes of those long relaxing videos where you're "falling" through a galaxy.

I've seen a few pop up!
My favorite serving alien, the only being serving bite on bite
Halo and Outer Worlds. I wish I could play No Man's Sky, but... nah.
I appreciate those existing, and good choices! I'm a huge fan of Outer Wilds myself!

I get a similar feeling as the one people who are afraid of deep waters describe, when seeing deep space stuff, so I think I can sort of relate to that uneasy feeling.
Though I've always been more of an earth enjoyer in general.

If anything I think that insignificance makes us even cooler ::terriermon-happy

I love it when people are inspired by things like that and want to put it in their games. Such as using the recording of a black hole in Metyr's theme from Elden Ring.

The best perspective; if 'nothing' matters? Everything matters. And that's us!

I wonder who's beheind this thread....

But in all seriousness, I've loved space-related things since I was young since I always enjoyed sci-fi. Space is mostly protrayed as this almost mythical place full of wonders and curiosity and, although it is beautiful, nowadays thinking about space gives me some anxiety.

We can't really fathom how big space is and how human life is just a speck of dust in the vastiness of a empty void. It is as scary as it is humbling.

Kind of a complex relationship between wonder and dread

We're all in it together, beating back the meteor of our day to day lives.

We're all stardust. And that's a reason to find a lot of joy in the day to day.

I have no idea what you're talking about beep boop

Space gives us meaning in equal measure for both the wonder and dread, the awe and terror and it's just the coolest thing. It's where we live and it's where we don't live and it's so cool

I live on the planet Lod where all the inhabitants help each other, and he's coming down to Earth to find out what Brazilian culture is like. But seriously now, congratulations, you're literally experiencing love among the stars! I wanted to visit many planets like I did when I was a child, it was my dream, but I gave up.

Brazilian Miku must've been quite a learning moment to come find.

Thank you for your patience, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is LOD, I hope you have a great day. Is your girlfriend an astronaut or a space tourist? I love space culture; I've always wanted to go to space, but I've never had the opportunity.

She's so wonderful that she feels like she's from space. I hope you find your opportunity someday.

Now that I understand, I was mistaken in thinking she was an astronaut. Thanks for the chat.
