Neat!

When it comes to 'Sonic Mania', I wish they wouldn't have used the drop-dash, but instead implemented the uber useful feature of this game: Being able to turn into a ball for a second after bouncing off a spring.
It's such a simple mechanic but fun to use... and (as far as I remember), it's required to beat the first boss.

I also just leave this one here:

I'm not a fan of the dropdash, imo it's just a spamable spindash and I much rather the insta shield or this over it, also I tend to accidentally activate the dropdash and fall into pits all the time, really wish SEGA would stop forcing it.

Yeah, that's correct... but 8bit Sonics always felt like some "extra" games, because SEGA itself, by then, was not doing Master System games anymore, an although they still were doing GG games, never developed the "main" 8bit Sonics in-house.

Must probably Sega would help or assist, but the 8bit Sonic 1 was from "Ancient" (the studio of Yuzo Koshiro), and all the other "main" Sonic platform games (Not including "Drifts", Spinball or Labyrinth), were made by "Aspect" (including the "G Sonic"... aka Sonic Blast).

So, those games never pretended to be used as a "serious continuity" of the main series, which... by then, was "managed" very much by Yuki Naka in Mega Drive. Not including the 16bit Spinball, and barely Sonic CD, which nobody has 100% clear "when" it occurs. Were just like an "expanded" world (similar to the comics, TV series, etc...)

In the end... putting Knuckles inside was a nice touch for the children, because it was popular, so whateeeever... relax. Instead, Nack/Fang had a LOT of potential as "something" like "Wario" in Mario games. I loved its design, and it even had a full 3D model in that era, as a fighter in the very obscure (during maaany years) "Sonic Fighters" in the west, thanks to the 90s magical AM2! (VERY advanced: Mario 64 was just in development!). But then, just disappeared for almost 30 years... until Sonic Superstars. Nuts! Bad, Sega, BAAAD!

Superstars gave the guy justice, I know the game is controversial among the fans as as I established before I really like Sonic Superstars.

Since you brought it up, regarding the "triple threat" concept, a small nitpick as a Sonic fan, while I like the game, I always felt Knuckles was kind of shoehorned in it, don't get me wrong, I lived the 90s and I remember how popular Knuckles was (arguably still is) but he kinda adds nothing to the game other than trying to copy Sonic 3, which by doing so it immediately makes the game non-canon, I think Eggman and the new guy Fang would've been enough villains for the game, even Metal Sonic shows up in the final level (spoiler I guess), but that's just me.

I completely agree. Knux in Triple Trouble was nothing but a shoehorned half bumbling antagonist. Sega handled the game poorly in this respect, as he isn't playable in any capacity and TT doesn't even pass muster as "We have Sonic 3 and Knuckles at home!" copium material.

Yeah that's what it should have been called. What a pointless name change.

I played that port for MS time ago. GREAT PORT, from a GREAT GAME (known in Japan as "Sonic & Tails 2", that means is basically "Sonic Chaos 2").

Totally recommended if you like Sonic games.

I really like GG to SMS ports. The extra colors are pretty much never worth the reduced screen area. Triple Trouble itself is pretty great, though I wish graphics were more consistent across 8 bit entries.

A great of an... average game. Triple Trouble is definitely one of the weaker Sonic titles for the Game Gear. Though, at the same time, it isn't THE worst – that honor goes to Sonic Blast, in my honest opinion.
To each their own, personally I like both Sonic Triple Trouble and Sonic Blast, my least favorite 8bit title is Sonic 2, unless we count spin offs then Sonic Labyrinth is my least favorite of the 8bit titles.

I respect your opinion about the game but for me Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble is the best Sonic game on the Game Gear because at least it continues from what I had left of Sonic Chaos which is the previous installment and has a Gameplay that is slightly better than the previous game, better graphics although the same engine of Sonic Chaos is reused, good soundtrack although we must recognize that the game is not as innovative as the previous Sonic games but this one is playable at least and even more with the conversion of GG2SMS which improves resolution but sacrifices the amount of color palette and several slowdowns but it is still a conversion well done.

Although I will agree with you that Sonic Blast is one of the worst Sonic games of the GG/SMS and rightly so because it has more of the same gameplay, imprecise physics, ugly pre-rendered graphics, reduced field of view although the SMS version is enlarged but has fewer colors and the music is nothing out of this world.

For being a port based on the Game Gear version by the community, it is well made and with a better field of vision making it very close to the previous installment which is the Sonic Chaos that came out on this same console and in addition to being a port of the Game Gear version but officially, although at the cost of having fewer colors and with unnecessary slowdowns that can affect the game experience that characterizes it. But even so, this GG2SMS conversion is well done anyway.
