Do you need to play the game 12 hours, and play at least 1 time the other games unlocked (vectorman, bonmanza bross) for the rest of the STR its the same: first play the last game unlocked and have more of 12 hours of playtimeCan you please tell me how to unlock Streets of Rage??
Idk if this is well known but the PS2 version has both soundtracks and depending on your system region (or emulator region) it automatically switches the soundtrack, in this case Europe got the US soundtrack, I "heard" this is also the case for the GC version but as far as I can tell I could not get it to work, not on real hardware at least, but it does work on PS2, I tested it.Also, apologies if this is controversial, but I'd spend 1000x more time with Sonic R on this collection than anything else... What a gem
This reminds me way back in the early days of Dios Mios, for a while I used a version of Sonic R and Sonic The Fighters I ripped because Sonic Gems Collection was one of the last games that still required a disc to be inserted to switch between games.I have a Standalone Version of Sonic R that was ripped from the Gems Collection but I don't see it on site would anyone like it and who would i need to talk to to get it on the site?
Yep. Corrected. The metadata is incorrect as it should be tagged "English patched" and translation
As the page implies is like original English version
Just checked and EUR copy is in fact locked to 50hz. This version is therefore actually one of, if not the best for sonic cd.. If you want translated and fully English, just get the eur version. Daresay it's the best console version, as it's got the actual anime cut scenes (like those seen in sonic jam) with the European soundtrack (same as the vastly superior Japanese soundtrack).
I can't remember if it's locked to 50hz, I doubt it.
It's on archive dot org; search "Sonic R NGC Standalone"I have a Standalone Version of Sonic R that was ripped from the Gems Collection but I don't see it on site

I think that so far we have the possibility to play the Sonic the Hedgehog CD but with the Japanese/European Soundtrack instead of the American Soundtrack of the Game and also the possibility to play the other unrelated Sonic games such as Bonanza Bros. and the Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage Trilogy especially the Bare Knuckle 3 that has the original colors of the costumes of the Characters and also because it does not have unnecessary censorship and even a fair learning curve even if they come from the Sega Mega Drive and I feel that it is slightly more than a simple translation from English of this compilation of Sonic although the English translation of the game is in progress.

Most likely the rating system, you might be even more upset when you learn hackers found traces of even more games that were planned but unreleased including the Wonderboy series, making this the first time localizing Monster World IV (if it happened) and even Sonic Ereaser which never had a release outside Japan, digital only.I wonder whose bright idea back in the day to not even give us at the very least US versions of SoR 1 and 2 I get why 3 is so controversial for them, but their inclusion woulda elevated this by an amount
You had me at "Bonanza Bros".Cool, English patched, thank you for sharing this.
For those unaware, unlike the international version, the Japanese version has a few extra games, Streets of Rage 1-3 (Bare Knuckle 1-3) and Bonanza Brothers, most likely were removed in the US due to the rating system, also you get the Japanese version of Sonic CD and the uncensored version of SoR3.
Honestly, I dunno why I never thought of doing this myself, back in the day I ripped through the files for this game and Sonic Mega Collection (and Plus) and tried to miss with the files try to load Roms from one collection into the other, even trying to load the menu of Gems Collection to the PC port of Mega Collection Plus, making a PC port of some sort, without getting into details I was only partially successful but not a satisfactory success, it was an experimental personal project.
For the record, the original Mega Collection (Gamecube version) is incompatible as it uses a different emulator and compression method for the Roms, but Mega Collection Plus (PS2/Xbox/PC) is compatible with Gems Collection (GC/PS2).
Edit: now I wonder if I can patch the PS2 version similarly![]()
