Released exclusively for the Brazilian market, the Master System's Sonic Blast is an outstandingly lazy port of what's already a widely-disliked sonic game. Featuring less than the bare minimum of changes needed for the larger screen size, poor accounting for the Master System's smaller color palette and visual glitches absolutely everywhere, the result is quite possibly the most miserable 2D home console Sonic experience out there.

Perhaps Sonic Triple Trouble not getting an official Master System port was a blessing in disguise.
I like it <3

I must point out that the legend that Mega Drive and Master System are *Still* popular in Brazil is a fun thing to believe, but this isn't a reality for more than 10 or 15 years.

Tec Toy still sell those but kids don't want them since they have phones and adults who played them as kids know they have better options.

The last time Tec Toy released a Sega-related product was the new SOC Mega Drive in 2017 that received a lot of backlash and didn't sell well, so they are now focusing on their white label gaming handheld called Zeenix (Zeebo + Phoenix lol).

This device also received a lot of backlash because of the pricing and overall quality.

The Sega Master System was (and surprisingly, still is) an insanely popular console in Brazil and most of South America.

Fun Fact: the console is still technically being manufactured in Brazil by the company, Tectoy and the production is fully licensed by Sega. The console's support was ended in the USA and Japan in 1991, after the release of the 8 bit version of Sonic 1, and 1994-1995 in Europe, after the release of UMK3. Brand new SMS games are still being made and sold in Brazil.

Unfortunately this isn't true anymore for a long time. TecToys popularity has wane down for last decade or two. They do still sell the Master System though.

it's still mad to me, even though this is a lazy port, that SEGA released a Master System game 3 years after the Saturn launched in Japan

well some Sonic GG games were ported, the rest you could probably convert with GG2SMS.

A lazy port of a bad game.

It's a shame that Sonic Blast isn't very fun to play because the pre-rendered visuals, as well as the soundtrack, are great.

It's incredible that Sonic Triple Trouble didn't make a port it to the Master System Officially, but the infamous Sonic Blast did, although at least it's more visible than the game gear version, but it's still ugly graphically and clunky gameplay.
