Hack of Sonic 3D Blast (Flickies Island) by Sik which removes the requirement to collect the Flickies completely making it play more like a traditional Sonic game where you just need to head to the goal. Included are two versions, one version unlocks Super Sonic when collecting all of the emeralds. I tried that romhack and while I find it interesting for speedrunning it also removes the entire point of the game. The Director's Cut is still a much better improvement over the base game without amputating it from its main features.

I agree that this is not my personal favorite hack, however, unpopular opinion, I also do not like the Director's Cut version for the same reason, that version while ambitious removes the puzzles completely, you can walk just about anywhere, Sonic laughs at the faces of slopes and defies gravity, also everything from shields to invincibility to speed shoes to even the flickies all behave as a shield protecting you, the new camera system also gives me motion sickness, the only thing I like in the Director's Cut is the flickey radar but imo is not worth sacrificing the game, but that's just me, a weirdo who quite likes the original Sonic 3D.

It's Pretty Good because you'll have more freedom to complete a level without needing to defeat an enemy to save all 5 flickies in order to complete a level.
