So what desktop/laptop do you use?

Mine is a 6 years old mid-end PC running Linux, I use Arch btw.

As for your problem, N64 emulation is notoriously finicky, or it could be your drivers, check if they need updates, if it gets too heated could be the fans, it might be that it just need some cleaning (laptops are very delicate, take it to a professional), or, could be shaders as they tend to be the most demanding.

Windows likes to use far too many resources by just existing, and modern internet browsers are very resource hungry as well, that could be causing trouble as well.
use mypal browser.

Well it´s a budget build but if it´s so interesting to know.
Ryzen 5600 X
RX6600 8GB
32GB DDR 4 3600mhz
total of 8TB storage across 6 discs.
2 1080p monitors.
It can run most games I wanna play and it´s much better than the PC I had in 2023.
Basically have identical setups lmao except my second TV I hooked up to a spare xbox. Half the ram, but I downloaded Rammap and Process Explorer and I can usually keep my used system ram under 10% so no biggie. I have a 5500 instead of a 5600 ::smug

Works perfectly fine still if you know what to turn down, Lights and shadows kill fps. Can still run most stuff at high with 60 fps lock and FSR off

How's sway treating you for gaming? I've been meaning to give it a go since i3 used to be my go to before switching to wayland on desktop but haven't been able to gather strength to deal with any potential hassle involved.
It's been working well. I've heard things have been pretty problematic for Nvidia users on Wayland, but AMD works fine, and I hear similar things about Intel. If anything, it's nice not having to mess around with settings to get around screen tearing.

I had to edit a few things, but I was able to carry my config over and mostly have everything work fine.

Don't get too attached to it my friend ;)

I'm a computer nerd, I have two desktops and two laptops, the laptops are fairly old but they're decent enough to do my work, they're both thinkpads, the first one is a fairly beat down thinkpad t480s with an i5 8250u and 16gb, it's running linux mint and it's fairly good for it's age, the cpu gets quite hot tough, even though I've replaced the thermal paste many times.
The other thinkpad it's a modified T440p, and it's also running linux mint. I bought it for cheap and added some extra ram I had lying around, an SSD, an intel core i7 4712qm, and finally, I changed the horrible 768p TN display for a full HD IPS display, it's much more usable now despite it's age

Yeah as long as I get 60fps im happy I mean I grew up when you where happy playing old games at 25fps im not picky as long as I can enjoy the game with out it being still frames im happy. :)

I've been playing PC games since I was in high school. I saved up and finally completely updated my desktop this year after 10 years on my original PC build. I love my new build so much and was glad that I was able to give my old parts to a friend who was in desperate need of a computer. I basically tore everything out of the old case and built an entirely new PC in my old Corsair C70 Vengeance case.

My new specs are:
OS: Linux Mint(My first time on Linux and I love it!)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X 12-Core
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
RAM: 32 GB
It's hooked up to 3 monitors: 1 1080p Dell curved-screen monitor and 2 Dell 1707FPt's that I was able to get from an old office job when our office upgraded our monitors::coolstafy

(I also have base model Steam Deck that I'm gonna end up making my go-to for emulating handheld and 8/16-bit games.)

I've got an Acer Nitro 5 (Intel i5-7500, Nvida Geforce GTX 1050, 8gbs Ram, 1tb Hard Drive) that I bought for roughly 749 USD in 2019. I was never buying it expecting to play AAA titles, but mainly older games and newer indie titles and it does that rather well

WTF, Wait, what?

Hear me out, guys, we need to raise money for our beloved Waffles, i can't let an Argentinian fellow die, the man needs to watch porn in a big screen from now on. ::smirk1::smirk1::smirk1::smirk1::smirk1
I'm sticking this to my fridge. ::winkfelix

I had a PC custom built about four years ago. It's dated now so I would like to upgrade it if possible, but it's still great!

AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-Core Processor (3.50 GHz)
16GB RAM
Radeon 6700 XT 16GB

MacBook Pro, was top of the line when I got it. Little did I know about the little things that make it harder to be a Steam user on Mac

Lenovo LOQ 15APH8 Laptop
AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS 8 Core Processor (3.80 GHz)
8GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 16GB

I run an external monitor, keyboard, and wired mouse though. I just treat it like a desktop, lid always closed.

An M4 16GB Mac Mini, I don't use it for gaming but it works surprisingly well for research and development. It can handle pretty much whatever I throw at it. Blender, Godot, Rendering, Compiling C++/Xcode/Android. Have some recompiled games for fun, like Doom 3 which runs exceptionally well all things considered.

If you ever need to consider a Mac for whatever reason, this is your best choice like objectively. it starts in 2 seconds, and opens everything in a flash. It has made me 10x more productive.

Intel i-3 7020 U
Intel HD Graphics 620
8 GB RAM (4GB Double Slotted)

My PC is super fucking ancient when it comes to specs.
The game I am working on has minimum requirement specified as: "Pseudo's PC" ::sadkirby
