So long, gay Bowser! Doug Bowser is retiring.

Someone named Daisy or Peach, I'm sure. Though it would be absolutely hilarious if the next person to take his place was named Luigi or Mario.

Also about Bowser retiring...
Eh... I honestly didn't know who the guy was till I opened the thread.
I don't keep up with Nintendo or Sega or Microsoft related stuff, for that matter

To be honest, I don't know one person named Daisy or Peach for that matter... except at that strip... nevermind.

And THAT would make it that much better

Is this real? If so, then YEEEESSSSS!!!!! He has done nothing but deliberately try to destroy Nintendo’s reputation.
Okay, I'll bite, because I have a great distaste for empty statement posts like this: how, and why would he? And please don't go, "they sue everyone and they're greedy" because his job is to make the arrow go up on the chart.

not to be a jerk but, Nintendo has been doing a fantastic job of that themselves since the 80's... not always bad, there were great times too, but most of the BS Nintendo has done was not due to ol' Bowser here.... not that I want him to stay, he cant be a good influence due to his particular experiences in the industry.. I guess it really doesnt directly affect me, I havent given Nintendo a dime in decades, but what Nintendo does affects everybody in gaming, particularly us who love game preservation etc..

The worst thing Doug Bowser has done is.... nothing at all. I only know if him as the guy who replaced Reggie. He's made like no meaningful contributions for his entire time as president. People like to point the finger at him for Nintendo's latest antics but most of that is coming from the Japanese side.

Yeah this thread is really confusing. Do people think that Nintendo is run by the American branch?
They’ve been cutthroat for forever, and arguably more so in the past with Yamauchi.

right? the only time Ive seen him was when he was defending "variable pricing".... dont get me wrong, I doubt he was a great influence nudging Nintendo to be a better company, but I sure as hell cant point to any of the BS Nintendo has done over the years being directly because of Bowser... again, its probably a good thing he's leaving, but I doubt very much it will change anything for the better.. but I enjoy seeing everybody else happy!

"...Bowser is retiring"

Well, I guess the Mushroom Kingdom has one less problem to worry about.:loldog

I have a kind of theory that this new Nintendo hatred comes from younger people who haven’t realized that they’ve never been squeaky clean until recently, because much of it has been easier to spot as a consumer in recent years.

Not to be an old man yelling at clouds, but it seems like these people are also in the age demographic with people who are nostalgic for the ”gray logo” era, where everything they released were NSMB sequels or similar low-effort shlock, so it’s kind of hard to take seriously sometimes, because Nintendo between 2010-2017 made infinitely more dogshit software AND hardware compared to now. They hardly tried at all.

Nintendo does mostly exclusive games (excluding a lot of the games from the console online stores) which is what makes them as good as they are. They are touchy though and it's mostly because of being exclusive. Who wouldn't get upset for having their genuine ideas stolen? They don't want people taking their own original ideas and not just publishing them, but also selling them. It's like the Palworld thing, it looks like pokemon, but really it's just some of the looks. I do question some of the Pal designs though which is easy target. I've played it long enough to know that. Anyway, It's pretty much taking the credit of their creativity and as a person who has the biggest imagination and a most creative passion, I more than understand why Nintendo is touchy, but that doesn't mean they're always right. I can favor one side or another but I keep an open mind.

Good riddance, but nintendo is not going to change for the better just because one guy left the company.

I literally don't know who he is, so I'll avoid casting judgment on himself or his character -- your reactions seem pretty universal, though, which tells me a few things about this fella and where he stood.

The problem is, Pokémon isn't an original idea. Games like Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei / Shin Megami Tensei in 1987 and Dragon Quest V in 1992 had monster taming mechanics and allowed monsters to join their party to fight before Pokémon was released in 1996. So, it's not really an original idea.
