The movie was unlikely to do good if only due to the controversies, first was their choice of actress not being as authentic as possible and before you start trying to call me racist for saying it, this is one of the few cases where this literally is a part of the character's identity, she's called snow white because her skin was as white as snow, that means the pool even with europeans would be difficult to find a good candidate for the character, the term especially means more if you know what "snow white" means in context of the medieval and renaissance era where the term referred to pale skin, namely the pale skin of a european noble princess who was rarely exposed to sunlight (fashion sense of the time), keep in mind i'd say the same thing about a live action hunchback of notre dam making esmeralda white, she's a gypsy and always has been in the story, as such you should put either a roma actress, or at least try and get as authentic as possible, as this is a VERY important part of the story.
The second was the dwarves, which dumbass from game of thrones ruined a ton of job opportunities for because "hiring little people to play dwarves is racist", there is something known as positive typecasting and like it or not, those roles would have helped 7 men put food on the table but no, gotta complain about them hiring little people to play dwarves.
That said, the biggest controversy was rachel zeigler herself, the other 2 might not have been enough to destroy the movie, but she said "hold my beer" and decided to go on a tirade against fans of the original, white people, trump supporters and basically anyone who wasn't ideologically aligned with her so much that even Hollywood hates her now, i think she was the final nail in this coffin.
