Sita is my all-time favorite singer, and I have come to associate her voice with absolute happiness in a way that even legendary acts like Avril Lavigne, Belinda Carlisle, Suzanne Vega, or Enya couldn't quite match.

And yet... soul-crushingly, whenever I try to bring her up on a conversation about singers and bands one must absolutely listen to, I'm always faced with a resounding "who?". I'm not kidding. Even goddamn Google seems to have trouble acknowledging her existence, to the point of making me doubt my own sanity.

But I'm here to right that wrong... I'll try my very best to make you leave this topic a Sita fan, because girl truly deserves it.

Before that, though, let's hear my personal backstory with her... because OH, BOY!

The first time I heard her voice was in a fittingly strange place: The Wild Thornberries Movie, probably the last place I'd ever expect to hear great music from.

Tucked away in a corner of a surprisingly strong soundtrack that included power-hitting songs like "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon and "Animal Nation" by Peter Gabriel was an absolute bombshell of a song, and the perfect introduction to Sita: "Happy" (which I'll link at the end of the topic). But, in a very Sita-like way, this song made me doubt my sanity by being completely absent from Google for YEARS, only existing as a valiant and passionate cover made by some teenage girl who sang it for fun in her bedroom and without a good mic, only popping up in Dailymotion a DECADE afterwards. I was hooked, though, and I still keep that cover as a reminder that there were other fans out there, even if the vast majority of people have no idea who I'm talking about.

But you know why I like Sita the most? Because every single one of her songs is an ode to happiness to the point of altering my mood whenever they pop up on my randomized playlist, even the ones that are meant to evoke feelings of revenge or anger come across as delightfully cheerful and result more healing than hurtful ("Jerk" comes immediately to mind).

I don't know what else to say... so I'll let her take over with a selection of my favorite offerings!

Ah, damn. That's annoying.

It's not like her music is all over YouTube, either... but I'll see if I can find replacements.

Thanks for letting me know!

Whenever she gets in trouble at school the principal tells her to take a Sita.
