Since I heard the news that Myrient will be shut down, is there any website alternates to Myrient.

They preserve materials and also source code, but also help in unearthing unreleased or lost projects, this sort of thing.
i KNOW what they do, they just can't do it well because they constantly get barred by various companies and legislation. They can also get a cease and desist the moment a company decides they just don't want it anymore. It's completely volatile.
They recently had a hand in recovering 100 Sega Channel roms, which they then shared via Gaming Alexandria. Iirc they've also worked with Hidden Palace on some things too, though offhand the exact titles escape me. Just today, they apparently put at least a temporary stop to the guy being doing all the takedowns over any content involving Cookie's Bustle. The point is, they're doing the work to get actual content out there, they're not joe blow meandering onto a forum looking for PSP roms or whatever.
"to get actual content out there" not really, it directly goes against most DMCA and worldwide copyright protection laws to put anything in the hands of just about anyone. how are they going to convince these companies that mother 3 is supposed to be out there and available. It's cost people decades to even try to convince them.
Also, I agree with bold entirely. I just think a poster framing their piracy as some noble cause to ensure the world never goes without a copy of Revenge of the Gator for Game Boy, is wholly disingenous.
Cherry picking. As of everyone with a romset has this attitude, rather than a scant few or that Revenge of the Gator is a cultural artifact worth preserving when people speak or game preservation.
Gaming is still young as a medium, someday it will be so big that we will have to select which games are worth preserving at all.
You are able to cherry pick these falacious non-arguments since romsets have the convenience of holding EVERY game on a console.

It's like criticizing people for wanting Rimworld to be preserved from steam because some random hentai game isn't culturally relevant.

And you keep claiming that piracy as you call it inherently cannot be a noble pursuit still hinges on the idea that there are better alternatives. Which don't exist.
A noble cause is noble because of intent of the holder of this belief, making your argument null. If a person truly holds a copy of a rom or romset for preservation purposes, then yes, it IS noble.
Some of the stuff on this site is only here because of the work they did, but ok I guess.
It's not like they don't do good work, they are fantastic. But 95% of their current holdings are because of the scene, so that goes both ways, lol.
They've actively attempted to get changes to support things like private servers for defunct games, alter copyright law in regard to digital preservation, and you're correct in saying that big money got in the way. But that doesn't invalidate their work, because what if they're successful one day? Seems like a better path than hoping User1234 on some rando forum has downloaded an entire NES romset or whatever.
again, if they have to bend to the knee of the law, their efforts might be ceased in a weeks time, all the eggs are in one basket and the basket is being held by people who don't like people getting said eggs. Even having explicitly said that they'd rather destroy the eggs than give them away, sometimes even for money.

It's cool how your argument is my alleged non-argument. People who are legitimately trying to save things that might otherwise be lost, yes, this is good. I never said it wasn't. What I said was that most people pirating aren't preservationists in the sense of 'I need to save this for the community to use going forward." It's so they can play a given title they're interested in at that time. Those people are not being genuine when they say they're pirating in the interest of preservation, outside of making sure they don't have to download it again later. They're just not. You're not going to change my mind and I'm not trying to change yours. So call it whatever you like, I guess.

it's not, it's a preemptive debunking that stands separate. But you deliberately ignore anything else so you can keep pushing your flawed narrative.

you have, multiple times. Plus you purposefully pigeonhole them with the bad actors in bad faith.

as much as YOU don't like it, that IS a form of preservation, just like any personal back up is. people can also have multiple reasons to preserve something at the same time without detracting from the other reasons, nor does it when they actually use the games. god forbid. They apparently can't play them, otherwise they're not REAL preservationists...
They're just not. You're not going to change my mind and I'm not trying to change yours. So call it whatever you like, I guess.
And the cat comes out of the bag. like clockwork with your type.

Not said at any point, but ok I guess.
"What I said was that most people pirating aren't preservationists in the sense of 'I need to save this for the community to use going forward." It's so they can play a given title they're interested in at that time"

"aren't preservationists" == "It's so they can play a given title"

All your arguments rely on creating a imaginary scapegoat/bogeyman of what you want to believe preservationists and rom enthusiasts are, debunking your own imaginary enemies and pretending you're debunking me.

btw Note how you cherry pick one sentence out of two paragraphs.

i invite people to do their part in preservation and getting said sets on a drive and doing a triple backup routine so you never lose them.

btw I'm replying to the only parts worth replying to, while earlier you replied to parts of my posts that weren't even replies to you. Maybe calm down a little. ::cirnoshrug

I feel like what I'm saying isn't that hard to understand, but you've somehow taken personal offense to it or whatever. I would say sorry, but the way you've continued to drill down at me with debate class lectures, I don't care at this point. I feel how I feel, you don't agree, and that's fine. Call it whatever you like in your inevitable reply to this, but I'm done talking to you about this.

i've seen your other posts around the forum. Every post you make is vitriol, don't bother trying to play victim.
