PS5 SILENT HILL: Townfall for PS5

Thread should be closed,
Nope.

at least the only 2 people in here that are fighting each other should just put each other in ignore mode.
I'd done that way earlier over the weekend. Don't know who you're referring to in this case.

Okay, this thread is still running.
Thank you. I appreciate it.

Somewhat already known, but still appreciate it with this news.

Too bad Xbox players especially need it but well, who knows? Miracles happen again and again.
I will be happy for them if it ever happens, but I don't think most of them are gonna wait around that long for this to matter.

Yes, they won't. Microsoft is such a load of crap. The Xbox only has these problems because of them. If the Xbox really does disappear, I will never forgive Microsoft.

They've already been beyond forgiveness after what they did to Tango Games.

For some reason I read the title as "downfall," and thought. Man, that's a way cooler title. Perhaps they could cover the long running series question if it was the Dog or the Aliens that were responsible for Silent Hill's shenanigans.

A wheelchair? In the house?
This should have had the subtitle "The Final Day of The House".

I consider Silent Hill F a very good game, and one main reason is the ambience. I am kind of tired of Silent Hill = western streets, western people, western behaviour, western putpourri everywhere. For me, it was a total refresh that, as I can see, it's not going to be repeated.

I hope more devs focus in asian townsfolk cultures, I feel them much more appealing. If Dreadout were not based in Indonesia I would have never played it, as simple as that.

If you haven't already, play Kuan. I think you'll like it.

It's pretty much proven by Shf, Silent Hill can be nearly whatever, so long as the core theming is good, or given a unique change up and twist. My guess is that Silent Hill will be given an Asian setting again, after Townfall and SH1 Remake.

Reminder, this isn't a fact nor is there any imperative to gas light people whether they like or do not like this title. The seething over this is absurd and weirdly out of place for here.

I hope to see the next SH game set in Japan featuring a small rural village similar to Inunaki Village or Hinamizawa from Higurashi. I know the village in SHF is similar though I would like to see one that's more rural and ancient. Sort of similar to the secret village in Murakami's Wind Up Bird Chronicle. I'd also like to see much deeper Japanese cultural elements, not just the basics nearly everyone is familiar with at this point, though those are important as well. If the game had an in game cutscene with character development and exposition featuring a Hanafuda mini game it would be perfect.

Yeah, this game is very good, but with higher difficulty than the average horror games.

I hope so, we have too many western environment horror games. Asian ones nowadays are +90% indies, many with so low budget their gameplay or mechanics is kind of lacking :(

It does not need to be Japan. I would prefer other asian countries, just to explore their cultures through horror stories. That's kind of fun :)

Depends on where you're looking in the indie scene. I admit that I am not on top of those, but if 90% have an Asian setting, but gamelpay and mechanics are lacking, then I guess that means the 10% is all you will ever need. Sturgeon's Law and everything.

No no, I meant, of all asian horror games that are being released nowadays, 90% of those go to indie ecosystem, and the rest go to the "AA" or "AAA" market. Since the proportion of the total western horror games is way bigger, more games go to the "AA" or "AAA" market, that's why this feeling :(

Ok then. That said, don't lose too much focus and just enjoy the games in the indie and AA areas that do work with what they are doing. Also, you're getting Fatal Frame II Remake. The game should hold you off for a while.

Yeah, you're right. The problem is that for some reason, they wanted to re-remake a game instead of doing something fresh. Who knows, maybe in 10 years we will see the re-re-remake of this game again, as they seem to have fixation for the 2 sisters. But it makes sense, tecmo is usually focused on games with girls and use them as selling points, even if that means making a lot of money off them.

I would love to see a Silent Hill game set in Indonesia. I know it's not SH related but Detention is a horror game set in Taiwan, it's pretty good just thought I'd mention that.

Detention is a very nice game to name, I agree. Devotion is the sequel, although it is very different style.
