Should I watch Made in Abyss?

Apparently it's EXTREMELY dark.

It's fairly dark & a bit questionable at times with it's character designs & content. It's good, but I'd argue it's also a bit NSFW. It does evolve into something pretty great though.

It really depends what you're truly looking for. If you want something very respectable while also getting that fantasy itch, I'd recommend Delicious in Dungeon or Frieren over this in a heartbeat. They're well talked about for a reason.
 
It's pretty interesting as long as you can handle graphic depictions of
child abuse.
 
Read the comic book it's even better

In fact read one and watch the other, the comic is even more fucked up but the show is very well animated, good music and GREAT GREAT acting

Dungeon Meshi (manga) is great yes, but as someone who's up to date with all of Frieren's manga, I cannot really recommend it: the first few volumes, which the anime adapted, are great but as you continue to read it becomes clear the author really has no idea where to the take the character's and story; 14 volumes in and no end in sight (unlike Dungeon Meshi which ended with its 14th tankobon), It'll probably become one of those episodic series that go on until the author grows tired and starts releasing 1 chapter per year.

Hehe, it’s super DARK, like super duper dark, I bet you’ll shit your pants when you watch it because it’s so edgy and dark! Did I mention it’s dark and features dark themes?

Watch an episode or two and see if you enjoy it, forget about it if you don't.

Athough as others have said, it is very dark.
Nothing huge until Ep 10, and it keeps going
There's three movies, the two others are recaps, Dawn of the Deep Soul is after the first season.

the world and premise are interesting at least. everything else is, as others have said, highly questionable
 
If you like Etrian Odyssey you should see.

But I'm less fan of the depiction of kids the show and manga have. Even if it's set in a world that isn't ours I don't think that showing half naked kids is a good idea.

It's "questionable" only if you're a fragile normie who couldn't handle most retro anime movies and OVAs that make Made in Abyss look like Disney show in comparison.

The artist was always talented and iconic with his most famous works before Made in Abyss being the art he made for Konami media. Even at the early 2000s when I didn't knew his name I loved his art. Here's a small sample of his works:

Taxi Driver movie used a 12 years old underage actor girl to play the role of a child prostitute. Yet it's ok when Pedowood does it. :sick:

Yet when real life half naked kids play in Western "progressive" movies like Cuties or they're dressed and dance like underage stripped at Pride Parades and gay strip clubs it's somehow "brave and inspiring".

Seriously though, if you're fine with lots of taboo stuff in anime like gore and cannibalism but stuff like stuff are "crossing the line", then you should stick with kodomo anime like Hamtaro and Hello Kitty.

I/we were just trying to keep it simple, that's all. We were trying to avoid these types of discussions I think.
The correct answer is to watch everything! I'm just as much of a Made in Abyss fan as the next guy.
It's just one of those shows that if someone creeps up on you at the wrong moment, it might be weird.

I mean yeah it has a relaxing start but usually the three episode rule works for every anime ?
