Some people like and or want to create their own games. Here is a Shmup Creator Game where info on it says you can Code, and Create your own Shmup. Has any played this game and can give more info on it? What other programs are like this, for those in this Community who want to begin to make Games? As well for any others.

Video on it:

Another similar thing; The Shoot-Em-Up Construction Kit (Amiga):

A reddit post about it, with more info on it:

What are y'alls thoughts on these types of programs, as a whole?

Looks pretty interesting. To answer your questions: RPGMaker is a biggun as far as this kind of software goes and I'm all for such programs existing. We've seen quite a few great games over the years that creative types were able to make without any deeper coding knowledge or having to beg for a publisher.

And even if a lot of the games made with such tools aren't great, they can definitely be something you'd never see made/published otherwise and if there's anything that could be called the true indie spirit it's those off-kilter, asinine releases that only very few enjoy.

Also, Adventure Game Studio comes to mind. I sure enjoyed me some of that Pleurghburg Dark Ages (a great little point and click adventure game)

I have an RPGMaker on Steam but it's one of those many games or apps 'I haven't gotten to yet'. strange you can't launch it from the Steam library, but wutevR, I got a hold of this one 'GDevelop5' which seems to have the potential to create sh'mups, 2D plats, metroidvanias, edutainment. kidding on the last one. unless it can? great, now I'll end up sleepin with 1 eye open... o_O

I can create my own Gradius and R-Type? Let's go!
For Iridion 3!

is it frowned upon to link to one's Soundclow....Soundcloud? I put the link somewhere in my profile but have no idea if that's the wrong place for it or I should just skip it altogether. it links the last album/playlist I shared publicly which was a synth-melodeath album inspired by the music of the Phantasy Star series. as my avatar is dying Nero as well, I may qualify as a 'Phan' (har har *smash* ouch!)

so maybe do the link by direct msg if requested? I don't wanna look like I'm using sleazy, aggressive business tactics from hell here forcin it down ppl's throats... through the ears down their throats?! no clue but I have been known to blast metal out a mp3 device speaker at supermarkets. it's hard to put into words the vibe it creates but the looks on the poor shopper's faces make it hard to keep from laughin with my hand over my mouth tryin to locate jerky treats for my doggies but ending up at the liquor aisle repeatedly from old instinctual habit... god the employee mannin the camera in the backroom must hate me for kickin his/her anxiety to the moon

I poked around a little bit at SEUCK for C64 and it's kinda cool for what it is, I'm just unwilling to put the work in to make anything really special, heh. I know there's a whole crew of guys who've done it for years, though. A C64 goodset I pulled in like 2006 probably had 50 titles made in it, if not more.

n yea I fully intend to provide or contribute to soundtracks for any homebrew jackassery that I may create or cross paths with

when I first got here like a week or whatever ago I posted about my love for C64. I was rockin Sega GenMD n Turbografx-16-but-actually-8 at the end of the 80's instead of continuing with wonderfully archaic computer action. n maybe that's why I'm cursed "Oh wut a horrible night to have a curse. Take my Daughter! Plz! *Simon's Quest turns into San Andreas* but yea my luck with Amiga emulation is a consistently frustrating work-in-digress. frontends have resulted in SOME success but really it's leavin bad tastes in meh mouph as I have run fresh outta exotic insults to spit at WinAUE. gRR n all that.

edit: 80's, not 90's. not knockin 90's though. 00's n me were close once but we are not on speaking terms at this time.
