Huge SMT fan, I'd like to experience the roots of the series but don't know any Japanese

There's like 2 different English patches already friend
Head on over to The Repo in light green to take a look at English patches
Just make sure not to abbreviate it

Make sure to include the addendum patch (plus I suggest the automap shortcut patch and the naming conventions patch). The addendum is basically required if you want to have the full experience.

If you want, someone also translated the GBA port of SMT as well. Enjoy it to your hearts content.

Yeah I'd go with the PS1 version at this point, honestly. Still hoping for the sequel to get done by the same folks... sigh.

Don't be afraid to lookup a guide for classic SMT, these games have more exposure then most never exported jrpgs thanks to Persona so there's plenty of advice as spoiler free or spoiler rich as you please out there. And speaking from experience SMT is the epitome of labyrinthine, and by YVYH is it wonderful for it.
