This weekend I’m going to watch The Super Mario Galaxy movie. I am bitter though because Wario isn’t in it and he’s my favorite.

I’ve seen mixed reviews on it, some people hate it, some love it, I haven’t seen too much in between but I’m still going to give it a chance and judge for myself. I liked the first one and thought it was fun.

i just finished watching Safety Last! (1923) and it was such a funny film, i've never, ever watched these kinds of films where everything is mimed and the important dialogue is shown on a slider in the entire movie but i must say this film really pulled that off in a great way to stay consistently entertaining.

i watched the Mysterians (1957) earlier in part of my Kaiju / Godzilla movies binge for Moguera, i like how Ishiro Honda as a director has four films at least that follow the trope of 'mysterious aliens invade asking for peace, but have a secret motive.'

Godzilla 2014, got my AI assistant hooked up to read the subtitles in realtime with a commentary interval of 2 minutes. Already did a few of the corny Godzilla movies and it was really fun. Excited to see how it handles a more serious movie but it will probably devolve into making fun of the characters as it usually does. Either way, it's more entertaining than sitting in silence and I need a break from constant projects.

…..so I did watch this yesterday and it was terrible.

Some stuff was cool like what they were going through the levels but overall, I was not engaged with this movie at all. I did like the first one but this one was just like “let’s make a Mario movie to get money but we won’t really try to make it very witty or interesting”.

i finished watching The Pirate (1948) and it's such a lovely musical film which has potentially turned the tables on my stance of them, i think the next one of these i watch will be Grease (1978).

i love how full of life this movie felt, barely a stance where people were not actively doing anything or emoting in a full extent and it makes the comedy sequences that much more memorable and certainly more charming in the long run.

the last 2 acts had me smiling like an idiot.

Next movie is Nosferatu: Symphony of Horror (1922)!

I just watched the Super Mario Galaxy movie and it was great! 🥳🎉

Finished watching The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939)
My first foray into watching the fable of Holmes' unfold on the silver screen.

Ever since watching Gojira (1954) and Godzilla Raids Again! (1955) I grew a sweet tooth for films in black and white. I feel that the limitations and therefore lack of colour provides a wider area for imagination to grow, and the pampered noir aesthetic is clear to see.

Some screenshots to go with it
I loved how they portrayed 'recounting a tale' via the effects of a sheet of paper and the actual scenes played in the middle of it.

An occult séance. Attempting to grab hold of the spirit of the deceased.

Next up is Fantasia in 1940!
