Watched Weapons (2025) today. One of the few recent movies I didn’t feel too negative about.

I don't remember exactly where I saw a clip of this movie, but it looked interesting. Thanks for the reminder.

Very fun style over substance flick about estate kids who get their kicks by smashing expensive cars into designer stores. Full of early 90's dance music (particularly Orbital, who's Halcyon & On & On is played HEAVILY as sort of an interlude between scenes)

(Serious):
I’m actually planning to watch The Serpent's Skin either tonight or tomorrow. I only stumbled across a short article about it, so I really don’t know much beyond the basics. From what little I’ve seen it’s an indie lesbian vampire-adjacent film, which already puts it in my general area of interest.

With indie horror you never quite know what you’re going to get sometimes you find a hidden gem, sometimes it’s a bit rough around the edges, but that’s part of the fun. I’m curious to see what kind of atmosphere it goes for.

Malkavian (Insane):
I’m thinking of watching The Serpent’s Skin tonight. Or tomorrow. Time is flexible if you glare at it long enough.

*stares suspiciously at the calendar*
I only read a tiny article about it barely enough information to form an opinion. Which means the possibilities are endless. It could be brilliant. It could be terrible. It could be the kind of movie that lives rent-free in your brain for the next ten years like a polite parasite.

Indie lesbian vampire films tend to exist in that strange little twilight where the budget is questionable but the vibes are immaculate.

*tilts head toward the television*

The television says it’s probably atmospheric and moody. The remote thinks there will be at least one extremely dramatic staring scene.

…honestly the remote is usually right about these things.

Either way, I’ll find out soon enough. Worst case scenario it’s bad in an entertaining way. Best case scenario it’s the kind of gothic fever dream you end up rewatching at 3 AM while wondering why the shadows in the room suddenly feel cooperative.

*eye twitches*

I've discovered about this movie thanks to one episode from Archer.

I re-watched Super Mario Bros. (2023) after not seeing since it came out in theaters, and just before the film comes out in a few weeks. I still think this film is great, and I have 0 problems with this movie being slightly less than 90 minutes. Too many movies have gone for the unnecessary 2+ hour mark, and most of them don't work. Everything about this film works: the animation, action, pacing, characters, writing, and humor. This film pays tribute to the games excellently without being distracting. So even if you're not a Mario nor video game fan, you can follow what is going on easily. The films only weakeness are some of those pop culture songs that play. Some of them fit, while others are uneeded. At least this movie actually plays songs from most of the mainline Mario games, and few Donkey Kong songs too. Unlike most of the Sonic films that either do small snippets or not at all. "Live and Learn" being the awesome exception.

Welp, I am ready for Mario Galaxy (2026).

People criticised it for being "too safe" yet I feel that it's still a good movie on its own, even outside of the game adaption that it represents.

eople criticised it for being "too safe"
The people who say that are usually full of shit, but almost never criticize Marvel films for doing so much worse and being safer than anything Mario ever did. Mario at least color and atmosphere that actually fits setting and feels distinct. I've also noticed the people making these criticisms were either non-fans, haters, or people claiming to 'apathetic' (not really.) about Mario or game to film adaptions in general. Sure, not every single person, but I noticed patterns or those being contrarian for the sake of it.

While I don't disagree that the Mario Bros movie was an Easter Egg fest of Nintendo IPs and Mario games but I think the movie, despite having a simple plot, was efficient in its simplicity.

People sometimes confuses "being authentic to the source material" with "playing it safe".

If they really wanted something that didn't "play it safe" they should watch it instead:

"What if Mario but in a cyberpunk world where humans are of saurian origin instead?"

I have always wondered if their names were Mario Mario and Luigi Mario before this movie?

Oh man, there's a restoration cut that adds another 20 minutes.

There's also a site somewhere out there with stills from the production.

Oh, and I'm watching Invasion USA later tonight.

I'm not too big into current movies, none ever seem interesting. But me and my homeboy went to go see that Peaky Blinders movie last week. That was a really good epilogue to the series and I highly recommend it if you like the show.

Honestly I'm a sucker for classic style cheesy action movies, but the ones coming out these days just don't do it for me. Idk, movies in general just stink these days.

Why the Japanese poster goes so hard?

I finally watched it btw. I really enjoyed it. Duvall also did a great job in this.

I recently watched "The Mist" (2007). That ending never gets any easier does it.
I found out not long ago there’s a black and white version and it was really cool to see it that way.

Watched "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie" last night. I was a fan of the show back when I watched it on Adult Swim and noticed I never watched this. It's pretty fun, and very clearly inspired by another movie called "Freddy Got Fingered". Even if that one's honestly better, and T&E's humor works a lot better on TV, this one is enjoyable.
