For those who played RES VILLAGE extra game, Shadow of a Rose, what did you think? I personally hated it. It doesn't feel like a RES game, it felt like Silent Hill. I don't want themes like Jungian persona and the subconscious in my RES game, I want puzzles in Masonic mansions, with Bio terrorism and body horror.
Right now, I hope they reboot the RES series, RES VILLAGE was a disgrace...

Hot take, but in my opinion, Resident Evil Village is my least favourite ResE game barring 6. 6 is so bad and such a sellout Gears of War cash-in that I can't bring myself to play through it, but whereas 6 embarrasses me, Village infuriates me. The story is hands down, the worst the mainline series has told, bringing back the writing flaws of 5 & 6, shifting the horror from biological a la most of the other entries to supernatural with the Mold doing stuff it didn't do in VII and the main monsters the Four Lords being supervillains, treating certain characters like dirt and finally rendering the franchise all for nothing so they could bring Alice to the games as Rose.

VII deserved a much better continuation. Sucks too, the gameplay in Village is really good but the writing and story are so bad, I refuse to revisit it or play Shadows of Rose. Here's hoping IX is a proper ending so that they can reboot the series going forth...
