Severe Weather in the US

Not a huge fan of extreme weather unless it's rainstorming. Nothing I love more than the sound and ambience of rain pitter pattering against the window. I live in the midwest so we get all kinds of weird weather here where all the fronts from the continental united states meet and greet. You never really know here

I had a tornado come down my street this morning! I had to grab my cat and hide in the hallway. It's the only place with no windows in the house.

The radar showed a tornado coming straight at my small town yesterday, it was the first time in awhile that I felt the need to take shelter from one.

The worst we typically get is ice/snow storms in the winter. It's been less and less severe as time goes on though. I remember having an ice storm so bad that trees and shit came down way back when I was in middle school.

Now a few feet of snow and flurries are the worst we get. Our summers have been getting hotter and hotter, too. We get at least one tornado watch every fall, too. Here's hoping it doesn't actually happen.

Honestly I used to hate it too, but after having wasps try to nest in our bathroom wall last year, and having our second floor be unbearably hot in the summer, I'm leaning more towards the 'winter is swell' camp.

I'm much more upstate and this past winter was surprisingly snowy compared to the past few years. Actual snow days. Winter is still hanging on, I think we're hitting 70° this week finally.

It was cold asf, I mean freezing but other than that it was like one snowstorm that didn't even hit that hard.

It's crazy, right? Half of the country is burning to the ground; meanwhile, one state over is submerged under 6 feet of nearly freezing water. I live in the armpit of Texas, near Houston, where it might drop down to 32°F for one or 2 days during the winter, but this year we got like 3 to 4 feet of snow! Somebody is not happy with us. The universe is trying to snap us out of this plague of narcissism and egocentric behavior by reminding us how truly insignificant we are.

Sunday's storm wasn't bad here but Wednesday was a little scary. It rained hard and we didn't have power but thankfully no tornadoes. Now we have some minor flooding but we're still good here.
