Another season of Onegai My Melody finished, another 52 episodes of cute, magical girl-esque shenanigans and world-ending threats!

*I love how shameless this show is at times with marketing stuff to kids. Season 2 has a brief recap of season 1 that literally says to buy the DVDs!

Kuru Kuru Shuffle starts off a bit mixed! My Melody returns home to Mari Land, Kuromi & Baku are thrown back in prison and the main antagonist of season 1 is being sentenced for their crimes.

It doesn't take long, however, for Kuromi & Baku to break out of prison (again), steal the Melody Key (again) and escape to the human world (again). My Melody is sent after them, Melody Takt in hand, and the status quo is essentially restored.

I really appreciate this show's efforts to maintain continuity, but season 2 has a habit of trying to have its cake and eat it too. To have continuity matter, but also not break away from season 1's formula. It's not that bad in execution, it just feels a bit cheap sometimes. Maybe it would have been more satisfying if the first season didn't have a finale and they kept going past episode 52 with business as usual? I don't know, because season 1's finale was awesome!

The main antagonist of season 2 is also more or less a re-tread of season 1. They bring in a new character that isn't that different from the old antagonist, so they don't have to change much of the formula. They make it work though, and they do stand out more by the finale.

One new addition to the season that I really enjoyed though, was Usamimi Kamen AKA Bunny-Eared Mask! and his sidekick, Sheep Mask.

He is a pretty obvious parody of Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon, but with the twist that he's being forced to help My Melody against his will. He is extremely unenthusiastic when he shows up, and it makes for some pretty funny moments. His signature move is the "Hunkalicious Beam" and he has his own theme song!

Now for some episode highlights:
Episode 5: I Wish I Could Find My Homies!

1756164330648.png
1756164353584.png

The members of Kuromi's biker gang are reported missing, and, despite being a wanted criminal, Kuromi returns home to find and save them! A really touching episode!

Episode 18: I Wish My Melo Would Come Back Home!

My Melody visits several members of the supporting cast, while a misunderstanding leaves the Yumeno family to think she has run away. A pretty funny episode that showcases My Melody's oblivious nature, and her ability to get on people's nerves without realising.

Episode 48: I Wish I Knew His Identity!

The identity of Bunny-Eared Mask revealed?!

Episodes 49-52: The Season Finale
Another really well done finale, in spite of some of the weaker aspects of the season. It mirrors the season 1 finale in a number of ways, but still has a lot of good comedy, action & heart-warming scenes of its own!

Overall, season 2 was more of a mixed bag. The plots of some popular episodes were re-tread, usually to good but less interesting results. The characters are still all pretty likeable, and it's still enjoyable watching them. I'm interested in season 3, but I do worry about this slight decline becoming a trend.

To be honest I haven't watch the Kuru Kuru shuffle I only watch the first season I ever heard they have third season

I did see few episodes clips on YouTube is still looks good.

I think they did 4 seasons total, but I can't seem to find season 4 anywhere with English subtitles.
I may have no idea what this is, but I know a passionate topic when I see it... And now you have gotten me curious, too.

It looks cute as hell, too.
It's an anime based on Hello Kitty characters. I have watched the first two seasons (104 episodes) of it in like three weeks. It is very cute! and is also watchable on YouTube & the Internet Archive

I watched it and loved it, frankly i prefer it over the first one even (not saying the first one is bad, is just that KKS amps it), the final battle is even tenser here

Both seasons have their pros and cons. I really dig both final battles though. I might generally prefer season 1 over KKS, but I don't know which final battle I like more!

I Can Understand people not liking it as much as the first show but i personally love it because i think a lot of the story decisions are hilarious and Baku is my favorite character and i love his arc in this show it feels super relatable to me. I find you calling Jun not to different from Hiiragi is odd to me Hiiragi was more of a villain cold and cruel while Jun was not a villain at all he didn't have a bad bone in his body but his insecurity got to him

Baku is the best!

That's fair.
I just meant more that Jun felt like he was brought in to fulfil pretty much the same role in the formula. They do enough with him to make him stand apart, but it felt a bit too convenient to me at first. He's still a good character in his own right, I just think I prefer Hiiragi. Jun was more relatable, but Hiiragi felt more like a villain
