scarface the world is yours is nonsense.

The Scarface movie shows the rise and fall of Toni, the end of the movie leaves us with a moral: the criminal world does not bring anything good. Toni's death serves as a lesson and this death was caused because he did not want to end the lives of two children.

until then the PS2 sequel comes out in a universe where he did survive and is now a GTA clone where in Toni's shoes you must recover what he has lost, completely killing the message of the movie just because the lizard executives wanted more money.

The ball mechanic seems ridiculous to me, because at no point do I remember seeing Toni absorb bullets like a sponge while annihilating and insulting his enemies.

All this is based on my opinion, the game is not bad, but if it did not have the title of Scarface on the cover it would be another forgettable GTA clone like true crime

I dunno. The message I got is that in the world of crime there is no place for morality. Tony's downfall wouldn't have happened if he just let the other guy assassinate the witness instead of shooting him and letting the entire operation go down the drain because there was a woman and a kid in the car. ::cirnoshrug

I haven't played the game but it seems obvious to me that they had to make a concession like that. Probably wouldn't be much fun running around town if a single bullet could kill you. There are times you have to give up realism to make a more fun experience and this is one of those times.

I get what you’re saying, but don’t almost all games basically turn your character into a bullet sponge? I’d rather go with the explanation they gave for Uncharted 2: you don’t really have a health bar, you’ve got a luck bar, and the last shot that empties it is the one that actually kills you. Everything else just “barely missed.” Is it dumb? Totally. But it’s still better than thinking your character can tank eight bullets to the chest and keep jumping around like a ballerina.

As for the Scarface game, I think it’s pretty mid. The first half is fun, but after that it just gets super repetitive, and the whole rage mode mechanic is kinda funny to me, plus the fact that it shows you exactly where your bullets hit, silly but fun.

You are right, however no need to be so serious about a video game adaptation.

Before I played the game I thought it was just another generic adaptation of movie game but then I learned it takes place in "what if" parallel universe that it takes place after events of the movie which I disliked the idea like you did for pretty much same reasons but then when I played the game I actually liked how it's "Tony Montana Simulation" game in a fun way. There is a button for you to insult people like "Come at me, pussy cat" and whatnot lol, you get extra points for where you shoot people like hitting balls lol, you can enter "Tony Montana" mode that is basically make the guy raged AF tank, and then you can pimp your mansion by customizing its interior to your home decor taste lol. However what to really dislike in the game is the game loop of doing trivial few variety of "side gigs" to make money by working like a simple fixer because whole game is about making money and getting your legacy back and then killing some key people. If you played Watch Dogs 1's fixer side gig missions the whole game is kinda more about that but in a very boring way and here and there there are Tony Montana moments and that's it. Make money -> buy business -> kill targets -> expand your "balls reputation" -> repeat. Well at least it doesn't have stupid GTA missions lol. Oh and the gamemap is too small to feel like an open world game, even smaller than GTA 3's map.

If the missions were actually fun I would be okay but there are worse kinda of missions there are like hurry to a place and collect shit within time limit, protect a VIP... this is where the illusion of Tony Montana Simulation is broken lol. But I had fun playing the game for like 6 hours I played. Soundtrack was okay and it was fun that you could listen to it even while walking and that's all about the game.

I always found it a bit goofy that Tony still get's shotgun'ed in the back in gameplay, but due to video game health mechanics, just shrugs it off. Tony literally survives because he has a healthbar in this timeline :loldog

Nonsense yes, the correct kind of nonsense, the plot isn't is strongest point, but the idea of a GTA that plays like some sort of TPS feels pretty good
