While Lost Kingdoms II already received an official English translation, it was released before the Japanese version and had cut content, possibly due to deadline demands by Activision.

What's New:
  • At least four new side quests. Three of them are repeatable.
  • At least two new and exclusive enemies.
  • New dialogue and NPCs.
  • Rebalanced gameplay
    • Includes some cards acting completely different from the US version, enemy placements and numbers, nerfs and buffs for cards, at least two new enemy A.I. (probably more), new spells, patched exploits, hidden cards, new and adjusted treasure chests and map changes.
  • New map for Ruldo Forest.
  • Ten new cards to collect that change theme music.
  • Monsters that could not be copied (like Emperor and Pazuzu) on the US version can be on this one. The Capture Cards are still excluded.
  • Capture Cards can be bought for a maximum of 5,000G versus the US version's 50,000G.
  • More levels can be replayed for bonuses than before.
  • Bug fixes (texture glitches fixed, death animations adjusted, etc.)
  • Chariot Card is no longer missable.
  • Lose 10 or more gold when you abort a mission.
  • Updated list for Combos
  • Supposedly, one of the last bosses has changed.
  • Other stuff

Never knew there were such stark differences, or even that the US version came out first. :0

Thanks for the heads up! Do you know if only the new content is machine translated with the old text imported from the western release, or is the whole text mtl?

Everything is MTL but from the little I played so far, it looks good. They had a Japanese speaker edit the script.
Here's a sample of the opening text crawl.

OriginalMTL
For many generations, the land of Argwyll has prospered under the enlightened rule of its queens.

Mighty armies, ferocious demons, and even ancient gods all bowed before the Queens of Argwyll and their enchanted Runestone.

But the lust for power is not easily quenched. Many coveted the Queens' Runestone, and the power it brought.

Eventually, a way was discovered to mass-produce Runestones.

These new runestones were not as powerful as the real Runestones, but they did give their users power over lesser monsters.

The new Runestones quickly became popular among the elite.

Those lucky enough to acquire the expensive stones quickly gained reputations as fearsome warriors.
Under the Illumed rule of its Queens, Argwyll had generations of prosperity

The Queens of Argwyll, with their enchanted Runestone, overpowered armies, tamed ferocious beasts and subdued ancient Gods to protect and maintain Argwyll's lands.

Even so, many greedy men, creatures and lesser Gods lusted for the Queen's overwhelming power.

Over time, scientists discovered a way to mass produce imitation magic material, but the forged gemstones had only a fraction of the real Runestone's power.

Still, this technology became popular among warriors and the elite. Warriors who wielded the faux jewels gained reputations for their fearsome power.

Could certainly be a lot worse. The Japanese version of the game itself is a lot better than what we got, so I can definitely work with that. Thanks for the reply!

Wow thanks for sharing this. I definitely need to give this game a playthrough with all the changes!
