I'm mostly referring to the people who go into threads and say things like "lol idc" when I say this. Like I get it, they might be trying to be funny, but at the same time remember the phrase "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything" or if they don't have anything to add to the conversation, they shouldn't say anything. Not to mention it's also just plain rude sometimes.

I'm not saying we need like a ban, but I think we need warnings for these people, especially if they're going out of their way to just spam threads.

If I may speak freely, I do believe making Chatter requirements a bit looser might help with spam comments appearing elsewhere.
big agree, make the level limit one and reduce the warning to having 1 instead of zero, since the mods looove to give you warnings over the simplest stuff, i know its their job, but its way to extreme and makes people leave this site in frustration. ::beer

I do agree, but some of the mods are nice, and others ( in my experience ) are not.

The Chatter requirements are basically unrelated to moderation, it's how Spike decided to handle a particular situation and it's entirely up to him. I don't think it's relevant to this thread, since we *also* get reports about spamming in the Forum Games section as well. I do think more people should leverage the Ignore function, and possibly be more comfortable telling Anti (sorry) to knock it off if he's being a pain.

Oh goody! I thought there was a distinct lack of censorship here and I'm so glad that you agree. I too cannot control my emotions and completely fall apart when criticized. If only we could cut out tongues IRL amirite?
I get your point, but this is unfair to the topic and OP, I think. No one's talking about criticism or arguments, just spamming/low-effort posts.

I don't think that changed anything about what I said, but I DM'ed you to continue the conversation elsewhere.

On topic, all of this forum stuff is just socializing, right? I can't imagine a rule to cover every situation, particularly when a lot of people do this sort of thing for jokes. Punishing attempted humor is a bit tough to judge, but I usually stick with what Momma said: "If you're gonna embarrass me in public, it'd best be DAMNED funny".

(Basically, it's a No, but we do read and act on the reports we get, and sometimes I just delete Anti's posts for the fun of it!)

Damn you just ripped the bandaid off I thought y’all would beat around the bush a little 🤣

The ignore function exists for this reason. I've already ignored someone because they were abhorrently sexist and it wasn't funny.

Did I report them? No. Do people still interact with them? Yes. And I haven't told a soul who it is.

User agency is important. If you don't like a person's style of forum use, ignore them. Problem solved. If it's something truly horrible, report them.

I'm thinking more of... delete on sight + verbal warn at first.

Point warn if the offense is repeated.
Hello, I have a question what does Ignore Style mean ?

I say the same thing to Spike every week, but it's always "How would that even work?" and "Stop bringing guns to my house, I know I locked that door". He's a real cut-up, that guy, we have fun!
I haven't been here long but you can already see that there are a few problems here and many do not know how to behave and if you make a thread that others don't like then you'll be called a bot or something else. Yes it is not easy here but every such community has its problems.

Ignore Style just disables viewing the unique style changes a user might have, like if they use a color on their text or a different font. Useful if someone has a setup that's hard for you to read.

lol idc /jk

Nah I'd rather not start policing comments much harder because you end up going down a slippery slope and might turn people away from the forum

Even if some people use styles and fonts hard on the eye, for the moment I prefer not disabling them as I love the unique feel and style it gives to the forum (I can only remember a couple of pretty old forums I used ages ago using this), although it's pretty cool that the option exists.

We'll keep on as before, technically we have rules for this stuff as is, it's just about how to interpret them.

(Also I was just about to close this topic, totally unrelated to you posting so no worries).
