RPG Recommendations for beginner

final fantasy x, lunar silver star story, dragon quest 8, disgaea 1 and atelier iris
mf recommended disgaea as a starter rpg wtf!
reminds me of those threads at /vr/ where people would ask for games for their kids and some guys would say stuff like "megaman 2"

in any case since you mentioned disgaea im recommending the first fire emblem title on the gba if the op is interested in TJRPGS. it doesnt get any more introductory than that for the genre.

Steambot Chronicles for the PS2

Action RPG with a unique concept, great gameplay, classic RPG tropes, while being fairly forgiving and fairly short. It's one of my favorite hidden gems and I believe that, especially as an RPG newbie, you would have great time with it.

If you´re a real beginner then you should try the Pokémon and Persona games to get used to this.

I could also recommend the X and XIII entries of Final Fantasy.

If you´re more story focused then Undertale or Deltarune lol

Dark Cloud 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, but you have to be patient with it.

I would stay away from the mainline Shin Megami Tensei games if you want beginner friendly games. Those games tend to be much less forgiving.
Pulling up just to say that if the OP ever gets an interest to the MegaTen (short form of Megami Tensei, the overarching franchise where SMT, Persona, Raidou, etc. come from) franchise. SMT 1&2 are the easiest SMT (referring to Main SMT, not the whole franchise. Just making sure.) games but they still will give you some trouble (and are also highly addicting once it gets going). The other nice entry, especially since OP likes Hack&Slash games, is the Raidou series or Maken. Matter of fact, the remaster of Raidou 1 came out yesterday. And it's top tier so far. Best way to play it.

The bare minimum of a beginner friendly MegaTen game is the Persona series, specifically P3R, P4G and P5R. These mofos are easier or arguably easier than Pokemon. Persona 1 is mid diff at best but still possible. And then the sequel, P2: Innocent Sin is stupidly easy. Equally easy as P5 and stuff. P2 EterPunish is a sequel and ACTUALLY BRAIN ACTIVATING challenging! So big no no. Mainly cus it's a sequel.

When you're more experienced on RPGs and want to dive into this pushing 40 yo franchise. I'd recommend Nocturne or SMT4 only cus these two are the best gateways to the whole franchise and the modern gameplay system. Unless you're a Tactics/Strategy RPG fan, then go for Devil Survivor (or Majin Tensei). Or you want to tango with the classic style, then go with SMT1&2, SMT If (pretty challenging game especially in comparison to SMT1&2), Soul Hackers, Megami Tensei 2, Kyuuyaku Tensei 1 or Strange Journey (this game is hard as bricks tho).

Well that's my MegaTen series guide/recommendations. In short: Play SMT 1&2 lol.

How about the Shining series? i'm playing the fighting game one(Blade Arcus) and likes the character designs.

Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger are great retro entry-level picks. Mother 3 is great too. Can't go wrong with FFVII both story and gameplay-wise, but I recommend skipping the Steam release and going for an emulated version with the Beacause retranslation. Someone mentioned The World Ends With You earlier and while it's absolutely something every RPG dweeb needs to play, it might be a little too unorthodox for an RPG virgin to start out with–also, play the DS original and avoid the mobile/Switch port with a fifty foot pole. If you like hack n slash games you might click with the first two Kingdom Hearts games, which both hold up surprisingly well

is disgaea that hard for begginers?

is disgaea that hard for begginers?
It's overwhelming and ridiculously grindy.
Yeah, Disgaea is literally made for people who enjoy grinding to watch numbers keep going up and up. Which is cool if thats your thing (sometimes its my thing) but you should know what you're getting into.
